How do you customize your GNOME desktop?

image

For me it involves installing the following packages:

yay -S matcha-gtk-theme-git
yay -S xcursor-breeze
yay -S yaru-sound-theme-git # mainly cause I like the notification sounds for confirming that i've connected/disconnected the charger
pacman -S papirus-icon-theme

…the following extensions:

Dash to dock
Kstatusnotifieritem/appindicator support # so steam will appear in the toolbar
Timezones extension # i interact with people from around the world so nice to know times in multiple timzeones at a glance
User themes

and finally installing gnome terminal themes from: https://github.com/Mayccoll/Gogh and tilda themes from https://github.com/Gwyki/base16-tilda

How do you style your GNOME desktop to your tastes?

Screenshot shows the extensions and themes I am using. I don’t have any of the built-in themes enabled.

I play with " Albert " atm " https://github.com/albertlauncher/albert " It fast and clean… i use on OSX as it 100% better than apple “spotlight” It work great on Arch/linux

@mandog can’t find Laxaros icons anywhere. Got a link?

Do you mean the ones in his dash to panel?

In the text of his post -

Most likely Candy icons, there are other variations…

Nope not it.

Nevermind he’s such a cryptic old #$$%#%.

I use two extensions:

  • Dash to Panel (Git package from the AUR)
  • Top Icons Plus (Git package from the AUR)

I use Materia-GTK dark variant and also Materia kvantum theme for Qt apps like VLC so that is matches.
