I’m using Gnome, but I prefer using Nemo to Nautilus and therefore would like to set Nemo as default. I’ve looked around on the web for a solution, but most answers are directed to Ubuntu users. I’ve uninstalled Nautilus, what else do I need to do?

Easiest way is to run that in terminal:
xdg-mime default nemo.desktop inode/directory
That should do the trick
