Houston, We Have A Mozilla Problem. They Killed Off Their Threat Management Team

I ordered a bunch of them from comic books when I was younger… wait, that is a web browser?!?

I’m eagerly awaiting the new web extension support. It’s quite nice to have a single application which does web, mail, calendar, and chat.

This is exactly why I continue to use Firefox. Other than Apple’s Safari browser, which is powered by WebKit, Google’s Blink engine now powers most browsers on the market. As much as I hate to say it, when Microsoft switched from EdgeHTML to a Chromium base for Edge, that was one more nail in the coffin for alternative browsers. I really appreciate Google’s contributions to various Open Source projects, but I really don’t want to see a repeat of the mid 90s Internet Explorer dominance. I still to this day have company clients whose intranet depends on Internet Explorer, it’s extremely frustrating.

Yea, Google already does enough bullying with web standards and I hate it.

Just saw this video posted after I replied. It goes over some of the problems these layoffs will cause.

Why not using Edge in a wine environment? So one would have kind of a sandbox included.

Scnr

This makes me sad.

Palemoon just got more attractive again. I just finished transitioning back to FF. :scream_cat:

What will Moonchild do when FF is no longer “there”? Develop the base itself?

Pale Moon, Waterfox, all is only blah, blah, blah … There are NO real alternatives!

Look at this >>>

Who will ever notice when FF is gone?

We’re a small elitist circle here…

Are you seriously planning to use Safari in the future to avoid chromium?

Palemoon has their own rendering engine which works with most websites. The limitation is with addon availability. I expect Moonchild to continue on for a while, it is already using an old FF snapshot as the base… The only question is the staff big enough to fix all the CVE’s that FF had been fixing.

This looks like Netscape imploding all over again. It would be pretty hard for a new player to match the large paid staffs at chrome and safari to develop a new browser…
