GNOME will not change to dark theme

It seems to be identical to this problem:

There was an update to libadwaita today: [2023-09-20T10:07:19-0500] [ALPM] upgraded libadwaita (1:1.3.5-1 -> 1:1.4.0-1) that was preventing dark mode from working in Nautilus, Gnome settings, etc. gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface color-scheme prefer-dark or using dconf-editor and forcing dark mode wasn’t resolving the issue either. a downgrade and logout/login worked for me. just a heads up for anyone else encountering this.

then install this:

sudo pacman -S xdg-desktop-portal-gnome xdg-desktop-portal
