I didn’t try other icon theme.
If you don’t require firewalld specifically you could uninstall it and install ufw
and/or the graphical app gufw
, I use it and it doesn’t use a tray icon at all, so it’s a “cleaner” look. But if you need firewalld for a specific reason I understand.
I switched to dash to dock and is okay.
So i can live with this setup on Gnome. It’s pretty good.
So… are you gonna make the switch?
I doubt i will switch but i could. This setup isn’t too bad the way i have it. I don’t have any desktop icons. But that’s not necessary.
There is an extension for that as well
I don’t use it though.
I installed it but i can’t figure out how to add desktop icons?
Edit: Okay i see the problem?
I have never used it so I don’t know how to configure it.
Actually I never use desktop icons even on DE:s where you can use them.
I use a couple on KDE and also on Xfce i use them even more so.
Edit: Anyway this setup isn’t too bad.
It looks good!
If you want some blur in the background >> blur my shell
Yes this is nice. Is there anyway to make the icons smaller in size in activities?
Don’t know. I have never looked for that.
There is an extension for that, but it hasn’t been updated for Gnome 43 yet.
Only problem is i would have to install the browser extension to add it. Okay so i haven’t found any bugs so i better get off the post or @Scotty_Trees is going to be on me.
You can install it from Github - https://github.com/Selenium-H/App-Grid-Tweaks. There’s also an experimental branch that has initial Gnome 42 support - https://github.com/Selenium-H/App-Grid-Tweaks/tree/experimental.
I think we need a separate topic “Ric is trying gnome” as this is pretty epic turn of events
Aren’t you a KDE user? That’s one of the features of KDE lol
Caffeine, Just Perfection and User Themes are my staple extensions.
Caffeine to inhibit screensaver when I need to without changing the setting
Just Perfection can tweak a huge amount of GNOME settings but I mostly use it to move the clock, & notifications to the right instead of center & change the activities label to an icon
User Themes explains itself
Gnome already removed support for desktop icons when I used it years ago. In fact, he hasn’t really supported them for quite some time.
