Arch only releases stable software people that claim Arch is bleeding edge are incorrect. Their have been many statements in the past it will get released as soon as Arch deems it stable, Arch stable that is not Debian stable. so when 41.01 arrives Arch will release it going on past releases.

Is Gnome 41 even out yet on Arch rolling?

From my sources that I cannot reveal, it has been said that Gnome 41 will be released on Arch when the point release comes out, so 41.1, which Gnome usually puts out a few weeks after the initial release that typically irons out a lot of bugs that mightā€™ve showed up during the initial release. This was an approach that Solus used to adopt as well, wait for the first point release, then push the Gnome update. But lately, at least for the Solus devs, they push it live after like the first week it gets released. Arch is not quite ā€œbleeding edgeā€ after all

Bugs? What bugs? I thought Gnome was perfect? All 41 extensions and all! I guess Arch isnā€™t rolling as much. Iā€™m glad i have KDE because it keeps updating and everything is just superb!

If you want to test out Gnome 41 thereā€™s always Solus Gnome edition, Fedora 35 Beta, and I believe openSUSE Tumbleweed Gnome edition has it out now too, though Iā€™m not 100%, I havenā€™t used those in a VM recently to verify. Also, most Gnome extension devs are not able to update some of their extensions right away because a lot of them will wait till the latest stable Fedora gets released (in this case Fedora 35) before they can test their extension on the newer version. Other devs are more comfortable testing out their extension in a VM of the latest Gnome builds, but each dev handles it a bit differently. All my extensions (I use about a dozen or so) are currently working in Gnome 41, which is a surprisingly fast turn around compared to previous releases so I for one will be updating the day Gnome 41 gets released on Arch and wonā€™t have to worry about much, if anything.

What are the extensions youā€™re using?

Just stick with KDE itā€™s better for you.

I mentioned it a bit in the beginning of this thread here: Gnome 41 in the pipeline - #28 by Scotty_Trees

That looks very painful, and if itā€™s electrified then you are toast! Iā€™ll bring the Marmite :joy:

I respect all the Gnome users here, but this is why I politely switched to KDE years agoā€¦ Though Gnome still makes some really nice apps I use a lot.

My advice: If you use Gnome, donā€™t be an early adopter. Let the extension maintainers provide updates before trouble brews.

For the gnome lovers out there, I can just say I used gnome for 4 weeks now, and it is unbeatable what concerns multi-monitor support with variable screen resolution what concerns overall scaling out of the BOX via wayland! I like kde but the scaling was a real pain for me. I think this is one thing that really beats kde. I donā€™t use any extensions btw.

Which part of Gnome donā€™t you understand got it only 3 letters to read and understand 5 letters is to many for some of us yeah yeah,
