GLIBCXX_3.4.29 not found, Anaconda

I was trying to install sayonara-player-git and it failed at the very end with 0% test passed out of 42.
I went to log file and the problem seems to be

anaconda3/lib/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.29’ not found

It seems I messed up with anaconda installation, because when I tried

strings /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6 | grep GLIBCXX_3.4.29

I got

GLIBCXX_3.4.29
GLIBCXX_3.4.29

And nothing for anaconda folder.

strings /anaconda/lib/libstdc++.so.6 | grep GLIBCXX_3.4.29

How can I fix this? Should I reinstall anaconda? Should I somehow navigate the tests to usr/lib?

I’m trying to build it right now but i don’t have anaconda on my system.This takes quite a while it’s at 72% and still building?

Edit: I don’t know what file this is GLIBCXX_3.4.29

I was actually building sayonara-player, but I don’t think it matters.
Yes, it does take a while.
But it goes to the very end for me it’s just the tests that give the error, and I think it’s because of anaconda.
Why it uses the anaconda/lib/ folder and not usr/lib/ - IDK, I guess I messed up when I installed anaconda :frowning:

I think you may be right that it’s picked up the path?

I have the same as you in /usr/lib and only up to .28 in the anaconda folder :frowning:

I don’t know anything about anaconda but obviously it’s trying to build and looks to that path as opposed to /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6

When you try to build it are you using yay?

I tried yay and octopi.

I used yay and just press enter on every prompt? But as i say i don’t have anaconda installed.

I went to cmake-gui and checked PATH in Environment Editor and it goes to anaconda instead of /usr/lib… not sure how to properly change it now.

/home/qq/anaconda3/bin:/home/qq/anaconda3/condabin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/bin/site_perl:/usr/bin/vendor_perl:/usr/bin/core_perl:/var/lib/snapd/snap/bin

You can edit the package build and change it. I don’t do a lot of that but i don’t think it’s too difficult.

I don’t think it depends on packagebuild file, does it? I feel like I need to properly switch PATH in cmake gui froom anaconda3 folder to /usr/lib/…

That’s what i said? When you run the package build with cmake you should be able to edit the package build.

Edit: I was thinking more of using yay doing it?

no issue here with build and install on yay

Thank you.
Fixed it via: https://askubuntu.com/a/764572

So that file comes from libstdc++6 then. So it was only finding it in anaconda because it wasn’t in the other path?

Yeah, it’s just a redirection from usr/lib/ to the file that cmake uses.
I probably should have installed anaconda differently.

Or, build packages against the system libraries rather than polluting them with another package manager and software ecosystem.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/DeveloperWiki:Building_in_a_clean_chroot

I’m not that familiar with linux, so when installing anaconda I followed their instructions…
Do I need to make a clean chroot every time I install a package?

I don’t think that is what was meant. @jonathon can correct me if I’m wrong. :innocent:
