ModemManager.service loaded active running Modem Manager
NetworkManager.service loaded active running Network Manager
these two should be running. if so that eliminates a service (systemctl
) that needs to be restarted
Have you tried another ethernet cable. Cables can easily be an issue. Sometimes the wires in the end of the plugs are not connecting properly as they can come apart or broken and barely making contact. Cables are cheap so it might be worth your while to try a new one. I would recommend a Cat 6a cable.
sorry im new to linux, what do i need to do?
yea i have new cables and i got a roll of Cat6 so I can create my own as well. i’ll give this a try as well and report back tomorrow.
Type in this command and see what services are running as @drunkenvicar said.
Looks okay. Have you also checked your router settings.
I’m sorry. When you see threads where people give you code to try, it means ‘cut and paste this into your terminal and show us the output’ basically.
So run this in your terminal systemctl --type=service --state=running
and see if you see those two services are active.

yes, settings are default on Virgin Media Hub. only Admin password was changed and WiFi was disabled as I use a different AP for WiFi.
@ drunkenvicar i’ll keep that in mind. sorry.
the sorry is all mine. I did not read your brand new status or I would have been clearer.
I’m not in endeavour at the moment–doesn’t endeavour have modem manager.service? It’s not in the output?
Doesn’t look like it. Not sure what the modem manger.service is for? I don’t know if it’s needed for the type of service being used. That’s for mobile broadband? The OP has virgin router so I’m not sure what the service is? Is it over mobile?
that was spitballin probably means nothing.
I just remember back in the days when I was splitting a HDD between Win and Linux, any Win update would disable that stuff plus the clock in linux. not sure exactly what MM is myself…
@Star-Lord
Is your internet service mobile broadband?
No, Home Broadband. Fibre 1Gig
searching online people say to try this
how do I install? sudo dpkg -i realtek-r8125-dkms_9.013.02-2_amd64.deb
doesnt work here i suppose

You can try this package from the AUR by this command. It will build the package and install it. Just press enter for each question asked. Once finished you can reboot and see if any different using it. If not then it can be uninstalled also by changing the command to yay -R r8125-dkms
To install it.
yay -S r8125-dkms
Ive blacklisted 8169
Ive installed the above.
the drivers are not loading tho
