FreeDownloadManager from AUR is not working on EndeavourOS

I tried to install FDM, from pacman, it was unavailable there, so I used Yay to install it.
FDM is not integrating with the browser as it is failing to detect brave on my system although it is supported, and I have downloaded the extension. I tried to delete and reinstall the program by running yay -Rns freedownloadmanager
but when I reinstalled, it basically sort of started from where I left it off, rather than having a fresh install. Can someone tell me how do I basically have a clean reinstall of the program, in case that might fix the issue, or any other fixes which you might know of for this or any issues related to this program.

Welcome to the community @B_onicBushido :waving_hand::partying_face: :enos_flag:

I don’t have experience with freedownloadmanager, but typically, to reset a program, you’ll find it’s configs under ~/.config and/or ~/.local/share. Have a look there and delete any “freedownloadmanager” folders to rejig it.

Some programs may even put configs directly in ~/ so keep an eye out for that too.

pacman can install from the official Arch repositories.

yay can install from the Arch User Repositories (AUR) as well, which is where freedownloadmanager is. A degree of caution should be taken when installing from the AUR, as these packages can be added and maintained by anyone.

What you also might need to do is to remove the program from the cache of yay.
From within .cache/yay/
Btw just visited the webpage of the program and it doesn’t mention Brave as being supported , but maybe you have other information.

Our internet download manager is compatible with the most popular browsers: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer

Actually I migrated from Garuda Linux to EndeavourOS, on Garuda, it sort of came as a software from the “choose preferred software to install”. As the FDM website by default lists itself as a .deb file and specifically compatible with Ubuntu, the AUR package is what I thought Garuda shipped with it, and it worked fine there. Plus in the software, under the browser integrations, it lists brave as supported, but isn’t detecting it, I have firefox on my system as well, that too isn’t being detected. Anywho, I’d rather switch to some other torrent client rather than banging my head on this

Well I don’t use any download manager at all, but maybe this topic might be of any use to you.

I don’t use torrents that much to be frank, FDM overall has download accelerators so makes downloading faster

Found this topic on the Arch forum, maybe the solution given is still valid ?
