Extra Packages (Mostly for RPi's)

Ugggg. Just got another message from Maira asking for another test. Seems she has run across some more issues she has fixed. Be glad when this is over.

If needed I could do some testing. If you can get me the packages and a list of things you are testing and the results you are looking for.

That would be great. I let you know when I get the 6.18.32 kernel built. Should be about an hour.

Here is the link to the new pi4 test kernel 6.18.32. Just throw everything V3D at it. Web pages, youtube, movies… over and over. Don’t shut it down over night. Mine would freeze while I was sleeping sometimes. Then test some more tomorrow. I told Maira you were help testing also and would report back tomorrow afternoon.

Hardware: RPi 4b with 8 GB RAM - Samsung T7 USB-3 500 GB SSD - 32 inch 1080p TV
Software: All linux-firmwares installed, Vulkan activated.

I updated my EndeavourOS KDE Plasma install. Next I installed your new kernels

I am now playing a Youtube video at 1080p and writing this Post.
I am in the US Mountain time zone. It is about time for me to watch the nightly news then off to bed. Will leave it running all night, and play with it some more tomorrow morning.

When I went to bed, I left it running a 1 Hr 20 Min youtube video at 1080p.
When I got up this morning, after it was about 30 minutes into the video, it had the revolving circle on the screen indicating it was buffering.

Could not get that video to resume, but without closing Firefox or You Tube I simply choose a different video and it started playing that OK.

I assume you were referring to a ā€œfreeze asā€ the whole OS locks up and will not respond.

Will play with it some more after breakfast.

So far no issues here. I got that situation every once in a while in the past before my current locking up issue but do do not believe it has anything to do what we are testing for. I am talking about total system lock up where you have to pull the plug. It is a nightmare when you are in the middle of a major system upgrade and have to use systemd -nspawn chroot to fix things.

I haven’t experienced that so far.

I’m looking over her new patches and trying to decide if I want to rebuild the 7.0.10 kernel or wait for her to push to RPi since I have had no issues. They will merge them just as soon as they get them.

Top 5 commits here:

@Pudge She has been busy again today with more commits and upgraded the kernel to 6.18.33. Give me an hour to rebuild kernel.

@Pudge Cancel that it is in the process of being merged into RPi’s trees.

So that means that in a day or two Maira’s changes will be in the kernel from kernel.org?
Also in a few more days will be in the Archlinux ARM kernel?

Wow.

Pudge

Kernel 6.18.33 fixes Should be in arch-arm tomorrow. Rpi’s kernel go different paths on some things so if any of her patches go to kernel.org they won’t show up until their next weekly kernel upgrade on kernels v18+. They can show up sooner on tolvads git master.

I am almost done compiling 7.0.10 for the pi4.

linux-rpi 7.0.10-2 kernel packages with bug fixes for the pi4 pushed to my google drive.

Thanks. I will try them out.

While waiting for RPi to update their 7.0.y tree I built and pushed 7.1-rc6 kernels for the rpi devices. It has been long enough for most of the bugs to be worked out. It should be out of the -rc stage in the near future. Been running it on my pi4 all mourning and have not had any issues:

linux-rpi-rc-7.1.rc6-1-aarch64.pkg.tar.xz
linux-rpi-rc-headers-7.1.rc6-1-aarch64.pkg.tar.xz
linux-rpi-16k-rc-7.1.rc6-1-aarch64.pkg.tar.xz
linux-rpi-16k-rc-headers-7.1.rc6-1-aarch64.pkg.tar.xz

@Pudge I built your namesake in this kernel. See if you can notice it at boot.

Instead of four raspberries, it showed four Katie Bugs. (Her name was Katie, but at least half of the time we called her Katie Bug).

Thank you my friend.

Pudge

All kernels updated to latest on my googledrive.
