Endeavouros or Bazzite..?

hey endeavouros community, i just registered this account to create topic/post about this

i’m still new to this family (Linux) and currently on linux mint. I felt like to do some distro-hopping to try some things like fedora or arch, i only watched few videos both eOS and bazzite and oh boy… it’s a hard choice to make, i like both of them and can’t wrap my hard around
i only do some gaming and little bit of daily driving like 80% and 20% and my laptop is low-end.
i wanna hear what you guys think before i hit the hay!

Ahh…EOS and Bazzite are about as different as Linux gets.

Ultimately, it is simply about what you prefer. Both will work fine for gaming and basic computing tasks.

About all you can do is try both and see what you prefer.

Bazzite is probably going to be easier to get setup if gaming is your primary goal and you don’t have much Linux experience.

Of note is that almost everything you install on Bassite is going to be flatpaks. There are complications there, and I prefer less flatpaks, but that being said I’m enjoying my time on my alternate OS (Aurora, the KDE spin of SilverBlue). I don’t think I’d want to live there as a daily driver, but it’s not bad.

you forget cachyos

I would(and did) go with EndeavourOS! :enos_flag: :enos:
It is the best and most stable of them!

seems like i cant test bazzite, when i selected the second option (Test this media and install bazzite), it brings up the installer first not the desktop… so ill test EndeavourOS to see if it’s good enough for me

Bazzite is Fedora based…

Good enough? It’s better than almost all of the distro’s out there. :smirk:

The question should be, are you good enough for EndeavourOS.

hey!
i managed to write eOS iso file with mint’s utility and i have to say, trying KDE and arch based stuff i heard… it looks great and i think its perfect but one thing however…
before i install everything completely, is there anything just ANYTHING important that i need to know? including apps?

EDIT: forgot to add imgur image here… https://imgur.com/a/wUvYt1y

Noticed you are installing offline in the image, main thing is to update after you install (if you do an online install it will pull the most up to date packages. Other things you might need since you said you wanted to game is to have a read through this

maybe this

Main thing read the wiki’s (Endeavours and Arch) and if you are unsure about something ask before doing it, much easier than trying to get out of trouble.

thanks!
i actually didn’t mean to install offline also on this page im on intel (integrated) both gpu and cpu, it’s dated… can i make those changes while in live enviroment or just i have to install it then make the changes?

Install first. I’m on an oldish Intel as well.

I never had any reason to do any of this yet though, I might’ve changed the driver but can’t recall

lets hope nothing would happen and have normal boot anyway, i backed up everything that i need to my drive

You should be right, if you do install online install the LTS as well (perhaps zen as well) they have helped me in the past although I can use all 3 now with now real noticeable differences

how can i do that since its the kernel?

When installing online you should see an option to install it I think from memory in the same section where you can select which desktop environment you want to use
