Hello! I wanted to install the bspwm and sway wm community editions, but on installing i got the error: Failed to run pacstrap
Failed to run pacman
My logs on https://termbin.com/52cp
Before installing I updated the mirrors, on welcome app. I dont know how to fix this error. If u can help me, tell me how to fix this bug. Thanks. (Sorry for my english, I don’t know him well)
It’s a network error… thats for sure… which mirrors did yiu choose?
if mirror ranking was working a bit strange…could be an issue with the connection itself, but also issue with the network device drivers/firmware
What country you are in ?
Moldova
internet is over wifi or wired?
You could show:
inxi -Naz
and you could do a speed check over browser from LiveSession of the installer
Network:
Device-1: Realtek RTL8111/8168/8211/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet
vendor: Acer Incorporated ALI driver: r8169 v: kernel pcie: gen: 1
speed: 2.5 GT/s lanes: 1 port: e000 bus-id: 02:00.0 chip-id: 10ec:8168
class-ID: 0200
My internet was pretty weird before. On my system it could be down for 1-3 minutes after turning on the computer, and then it would work mostly slowly but sometimes at 1-3 megabytes per second. And i cant just open sites. It started after installation endeavour os i3 wm
Speedtest:
it just cant load site
And my ethernet wired
Could it be that your ethernet card died and it simply happened same time with the installation?
known for issues…
you may need the older driver r8168
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/r8168
or use tethering over your phone.
r8168 is only on AUR
Ah, Realtek! My old nemesis from the days of Ubuntu.
I’m starting to have horrifying flashbacks…
Ok
No
really rare that such device needs the old driver… we had it before on ISO but the driver went to AUR-- so we had to remove it.
Generally, the in kernel drive r8169 should work…
How to switch r8169 with r8168?
if you do so on live session you need to unload the r8169 and load the older one after installing it.
yay -S r8168
sudo rmmod r8169
sudo modprobe r8168
sudo systemctl restart NetworkManager
Ty, im try it
I dont have ethernet, but have unknown connection lo
the lo
device allows a Linux system to “talk to itself” on the network level.
thats no real network device
now i have the ethernet with r8168 driver after restart and following your instructions. I hope this time it won’t give me an error during installation.
my ethernet falls to 0 bytes in second and installation failed. Before this, the speed did not increase above 110 kbps, and it’s quite strange. Before this my internet was about 2-4mb per second, but after endeavour os it became so slow, and it reflected a little on windows.
