Cyclist's Corner

not sure i knew about pinion, thanks, sounds awesome: https://pinion.eu/en/bike_selection/idworx-opinion-blt/

that’s what i was thinking, when the snow melts and the cars blow up dust all over me. Most of the maintenance i do on my bike is cleaning the chain, because i have a gear hub, if cleaning the chain was made easy and no need to lube it, then life would be too easy

The belt is very hardy… And less noisy

Very informative video. Thank you.
When I see that it can run even with that much mud is a selling point for me. I hate doing chain maintenance.

I closed my season with today’s trip.
With high humidity and a north wind of -2° Celsius, it is no longer very comfortable. And according to the forecast, there is no improvement, only it will be colder.

The discovery (for me) of the year – oval chainring.

The update that didn’t have a wow effect – Magene L508 radar.

The disappointment of the season – build quality of the Shimano PD-ME 700 pedals.

The average length of the trip was 35 km.

And the general ā€œgeographyā€ of my trips

Sweet…baby…raptor…jeebus… What is this abomination?

I’ve already seen ā€œitā€ on some YouTube channel :joy:

I have such a weak will.
After seeing all those revies and recommendations from my coworker I decided to buy a new bike with the belt drive.
So far so good :grinning: (except it will probably require change to handlebars some time in the future - it was sold as a city bike and they are too close to the seat for my taste).

Looks nice!

I tried a bike with a belt like that the other day and was tempted.

But I’m sentimentally attached to my 20-year old bike, and have not been able to decide to ditch it yet.

Counterweight training

We have it like this…

On friday-sunday they promise -20°Д

Time to put on winter tires.

No, I don’t like cycling in winter
Only by car. But it’s not so easy to drive a car either - today they pulled me out of the snow, and a few kilometers later I pulled out another car…
Balance. Someone at the top is watching this

For me, winter is a traditional time for bike maintenance and preparation for the next season :slightly_smiling_face:

In winter I use my bike only to get to work (only 4km) since the cycloroads are almost empty and car roads are very crouded.
I ordered this kind of tires. So I hope it will be still possible to ride in winter.
But now we have 50 cm of snow and expected -15˚C in the morning so I doubt it would be possible for me to ride a bike.
The tires are not really designed to deep snow.

I do not know where you are from, but in the Moscow cycling crowd, these tires are quite common :slightly_smiling_face:

During COVID-lockdown I recorded some of my bicycle trips for my very old father-in-law.
He enjoyed the clips, as he always used to be a keen bicycle rider himself, but can’t bike anymore.

If you want an impression of my area, here’s one clip:

There are regular thoughts about buying a camera…
But I don’t want to spend money on another piece of hardware, which I will use very rarely :joy:

I got my GoPro from my son who needed a new one for his work. I have used it for quite a few bicycle rides. It was fun to be able to send my father-in-law the clips.

Main road bike in the basement for the winter. Installing rims, tires, cassette, and chain for next year. Reached my 15.000 mile goal for 2023 early.
