I like Cinnamon better than Gnome. . . My hat is off to anyone who wants to improve it.

Well, my first attempt to upgrade failed miserably. The WM crashed, couldn’t even get a working software-rendering session running. I thought it was because I was running XLibre; switching back to Xorg failed just the same.
This was on real hardware, should try a VM…And that was a disaster as well.
Cinnamon 6.6 update on endeavoros failed, only terminal works…
I think it was a Cinnamon regression, and it’s been fixed. Try running sudo pacman -Syu followed by cinnamon –replace. Then once you have a working desktop, logout and log back in.
EDIT: Turns out it was actually a regression caused by Arch leaving a dependency out when packaging Cinnamon 6.6.

cinnamon was changed after a few hours to 6.6.0.2 and now it works perfectly
I would have this weird sense of guilt running a DE without the actual distro, same as with if I tried Cosmic. I’m not getting the Arch philosophy at all am I. 
I did really like Cinnamon when I tried with with LMDE though. I just realized I’m done for now KDE have their own distro.
I understand this more of less. I’ve heard people who use Pop say this.
I’ve never had a Budgie experience as good as Solus, where it came from. Not even close. I’ve heard many say the Plasma experience was lacking on certain distros.
Is our superstition confined to the psychological?
On the flip side:
Endeavour Cinnamon is quite lovely, and I am crazy about the DE but not the Debian experience that went with it so Endeavour a perfect fit for it imo…and Gnome is Gnome wherever it goes. XFCE too.
I think Xfce is the perfect fit for EOS. Not criticizing any decisions made by the team, I get it. In my limited experience so far any DE is better in EOS over any other accessible distro.
I went back to Plasma because I hate online installations though I prefer EOS’ “minimalist” version of Plasma over Fedoras (akonadi infested) version. I would even use Gnome for more kiosk type computers (music player or kitchen terminal) on EOS if it didn’t truncate the launcher names so badly.
I think I’m going to try the combination of EOS and Cinnamon on a spare computer because a Vicar told me it was ok to do so.

my 1.5 yrs will Fedora…solid, yes. it could have infestations of stuff you wouldn’t ordinarily add yourself to the DEs sometimes. Will leave it at that.
Just downloaded and installed the desktop Cinnamon version tonight with most of the software I’d use and it works great. Functional, streamline . I had KDE plasma on this mini-pc earlier then installed my thumb-drive internet installation. Quickest afternoon installation with the bulk of my favorite software now installed too.

I feel you,it’s why I try them on my other PC that just sits in the corner before trying elsewhere (also understand a lot of people can’t do this and all I have to say is be patient, it will happen)
Is the dependency that was removed caribou by chance? Just now received a message in the terminal about cinnamon and caribou being in conflict.
Update went fine BTW. Just curious about the conflict. Is this part of the Mint teams effort to further distance Cinnamin from the road Gnome is taking?
After the release hiccup I am here to report than two arch updates later, 6.6 has been flawless. The responsiveness of this distro is amazing. thank you.
