Can't run OS after installing

I just installed Endeavour OS and tried to run it for the first time, but no dice. There’s a start job that hangs forever, and the OS never loads:

Here’s a dxdiag of my machine.

Thanks for any help!

Hello and Welcome to the purple side :enos_flag: .

Do you install this one on a physical computer or on a virtual machine?

Would you be able to use the Endeavour OS live environment to obtain the information about your hardware? You can use the eos too called the “Endeavour log tool”. You can access the tool from the Xfce menu or directly from the “Welcome” screen under the “Assistant” tab by clicking the “Logs for troubleshooting” button.

Dxdiag is a bit all over the place. Not your fault it’s Windows . Once you run the report generation tools it’ll give a link just post the link here. So forum members can help you with much better suggestions and solutions.

And thank you for trying out Endeavour.

A physical computer, not a virtual machine. Here’s the log, let me know if you need anything else: http://ix.io/4FW5

Thanks for the help, really appreciate it!

Try adding the LTS kernel during the install and then choosing it from the boot menu.

How do I do that? This is my first time installing Linux, I’ve used almost entirely Windows so far.

If you do an online install, you will reach a screen where you can choose packages to install. One of the options on the screen is something like “LTS kernel in addition”. Check the box next to that option.

Ahh, I see, thank you. I’ll do that.

OK, I now unfortunately have new problems.

Online install doesn’t work (my previous installation was offline) - when the installer gets to 13%, it just hangs there.

That seems to be a mirror issue, according to this thread: Installation stuck at 13% - #17 by Deadlyhydra

So I ran “sudo pacman -Syy archlinux-keyring”, then updated the mirrors (“Update Mirrors EndeavourOS” button in the Welcome screen, not the Arch mirror buttons), and everything seemed to be going fine at first, but the installer broke at 5%, just as it was preparing the partition – the window suddenly just closed with no message. I tried running the installer again, same result.

So now I’m stuck on how to solve that and successfully run the online installer.

The ISO downloaded how old is it? And may we know where you are from?

From Croatia, and the ISO was downloaded about two days ago.

Can you confirm that the ISO has the filename Endeavouros_Cassini_Nova-03-2023_R3.iso ?

Yes, that’s the exact filename

Try setting different mirrors from welcome on the live ISO such as USA.

Edit: Then start the installer online.

No dice  Still hangs at 13%.

Here’s my mirror list: https://justpaste.it/cgpmt
And the install log: https://justpaste.it/agel0

EDIT: Actually it’s progressing, it just hung at 13% forever. I have to go now, but I’ll post an update tomorrow.

I see you report it’s going now. Maybe you weren’t waiting long enough?

Edit: It can take some time depending on your connection and location and mirrors.

OK, progress. It did get past the 13% point (apparently it was working in the background for about 15-20 minutes, but there were no indications of any progress in the GUI or the install log), but it crashed some time later, when it had to create a user.

Here’s the install log: http://termbin.com/ynut

What mirrors are you using besides the USA mirrors? I wouldn’t be using worldwide. I think it’s an issue with packages not being fetched and it gives up after.

For this install, I didn’t update the mirrors at all to see if that affected anything, and it didn’t. I’m guessing there actually wasn’t a mirror issue, and it was just a big download (about 1.5gb) that ran without any progress tracker, so it looked like the installer was stuck.

So right now, the only issue I’m facing is that it fails to create a user. Any idea how I could address that? I’m totally at a loss.

I don’t see why unless it’s timing out. :man_shrugging:

No idea either :frowning:

Is the install log of any help at all?
