Cannot complete calamares install-pacman error

To start, I’d like to provide the log files that I have:
https://termbin.com/oiy5
https://termbin.com/v8y2
I’m not terribly great at describing these things.
During the online-calamares installation of EndeavourOS Gemini, pacman has some kind of error that makes the installation fail and end.

Is this from a current ISO? Reiserfs should have been removed…which leads me to think that’s an old one.

It is not a current ISO no.

You do realize there are reasons that they issue new ISOs, right ?

I didn’t think it would be such a problem to use a Gemini .iso considering the end result after system updates is the same.

It’s not the same though. Various packages have been added, updated, and removed from the install. Always install from the latest iso!

Can that cause pacman failures during online install that would not otherwise occur during offline install? (since online also upgrades packages).

I would guess so, as @dbarronoss said, reiserfs has been removed from the repositories, so it’s going to cause problems online. I don’t know how offline will handle it, presumably you’ll get an orphaned package.

Well, if there is any kind of flags in place for orphaned packages that have been removed from repo’s but still linger on a user’s system, then, I would hope that upgrading all packages from down-stream would remove the orphaned packages on the behalf of the user. At least.., that’s how stable down-stream live repo’s should be.

There isn’t, Arch is a do-it-yourself distro.

Arch repositories aren’t recommended to use on EndeavourOS.

The Arch repositories are the main repositories of EndeavourOS along with their own for the specifically developed software. EndeavourOS is Arch with a friendly installer, a good out of the box set up, some useful helper scripts, and a friendly community.

Maybe you’re thinking of Manjaro, which has its own repositories.

Please correct me if I am mistaken here.
Has endeavor been a distribution that you must maintain by yourself?, has Arch for that matter? I have always had the notion that both Arch’s and Endeavour’s package upgrades weren’t just package upgrades, but screened for compatibility, usable defaults per-configured, in other words a usable form of automated maintenance from down-stream with little or no user intervention.

This is where you are mistaken.

Arch and by extension EOS are Do It Yourslf distros. The only mantainer of the system is the user of the system. EOS, however, provides some tools from its own repository to facilitate some maintenance tasks. Everything else comes directly from Arch’s repositories.

Some typo in there

“ EndeavorOS does not provide a graphical package shop as a pre-installed default,”

“ EndeavorOS has developed some system apps to simplify management”

“ EndeavorOS isn’t aimed at everyone and anybody”

Is it not “EndeavourOS” ?

ha ha yea is see now thanks let me fix it real quick..

There is also a tv series about it (just kidding)

You are mistaken. Arch and by extension Endeavour, are very manual distros. You’re expected to know your install very well, and be proactive with the news in case of manual intervention. Maybe you’re thinking of Manjaro, which tries to be different by holding updates back for a couple of weeks although that can cause a different set of problems.

Anyway, your solution is to install from the latest iso.
