So I’ve installed the system without any further partitioning choosing the encrypt full disk option. Unfortunately when I boot up the system and enter my master password in the Grub Loader, it takes like 30 seconds until the disk is decrypted. Is there a way to lower that delay or speed up the process? I also wonder why it’s taking so long compared to other distros.
Short answers:
- Yes, there are ways to lower the decryption time but this isn’t recommended.
- The delay time is distro independent. Those installs you’re referring to simply didn’t have an encrypted boot partition that needs to be unlocked; therefore faster but less safe.
