Calling all Rasberry Pie aficionados

I am tossing around the idea of building my own camera/monitoring system using a raspberry pie. I would be using a version 5 unit, and Motioneye. It s not yet running on v 5, but by the time I get it all together Im betting it will be compatible. Anyway, the only problem I see initially is I am left with either 2 cameras with no monitor, or 1 camera with a monitor. Is there any way around this? I need 3 cameras, and a monitor. Has anyone used a Raspberry Pie like this? Is daisy chaining Raspberry Pies possible? If so I could run 1 cam, and monitor on one, and 2 cams on the second…

Are you doing that as a learning project?
Or do you actually need its functionality?

How do you plan to connect cameras?
Why not use wireless (I’m guessing wired since you are already discussing limits)?

Why do you “need” to be using Rpi?
Do you have one lying around already or…?
If you’re not trying to specifically make a pi cluster for learning exactly that, I’d say that approach will be much hassle/complexity for no good reason.

Rpi has, over time, kinda developed into an overpriced piece of feature-limited hobby-electronics: by the time an Rpi0 doesn’t meet you’re needs, you’re probably better off with a cheap x86 mini pc with an intel N-series or similar 95% of the time…

Both…oh, and thanks for the vote of confidence :cloud_with_snow:

I am literally doing the same thing. I am putting together a CC baby monitor, mostly to learn the fundamental details of system and solution architecture, but also because I will be on leave with none of my fun work sandboxes at my disposal.

Now: Pi Monitoring Systems!
Tomorrow: The Presidenc–a fulfilling career!
