I recently attempted to repurpose, and reanimate, the corpse of an Acer Aspire 515-54 that was blue screening when it wasn’t power cycling. After a bit of research, Arch seemed like the way to go. It was bare bones, and I could select every aspect I wanted, and avoid any hardware or firmware incompatibility or obsolescence.
Then, after a week of following the steps to the manual install, and waiting for the damn installer wizard to give me an “Install” button to click, I realized what “manual install” meant.
Since then, the Acer has been running Endeavor like a dream, and all of the horror stories I read on the other forums are bunk.
Except the ones about the manual install.
(As someone who knew like 3% of the required information, it was immensely helpful. Now? Wow. I could have been doing anything else.)
