C: Drive doesnt get recognized properly by Endeavour OS installer

Have you tried any other distros on it to see if any see the drive? Might be worth trying.

no i was pretty deadset on endeavour…

youre completely out of ideas?

Right at the moment i am. I suspect the raid setup or fake raid that is installed on the nvme drive is not allowing it to read the disk. That’s just my belief as we do have the kernel parameter nvme_load=yes

i see thats a shame, thanks for the help anyways

Sorry that’s all i can think of other than wiping the drive in Windows but then you would lose everything and i can’t guarantee it will succeed.

its fine thanks for trying.

Just nuke the windoze partition, you don’t need it. Make backup of important data, of course.

Dual booting is a terrible idea anyway, especially for people who are new to Linux. You lose almost all of the security benefits of using Linux, and you end up with a complicated system that is more prone to breaking and malware. You also take the most painful route to learn Linux.

i need windows for university

What kind of clown university demands a malware-infested niche gaming platform to be used by its students?

I would recommend checking that, and if it is true, consider dropping out.

so you dont have other suggestions either?
Thanks for trying i appreciate any help.

Given the fact that all of the work you need to do for university can be done more effectively on Linux, my best advice is to not dual boot.

There is no reason why your university should demand you use a proprietary operating system, especially if they are not the ones who provide you with a license for it. It’s probably illegal to require you to purchase it.

However, it’s far more likely that you are only under the impression that you need a proprietary operating system, and that you actually don’t. Of course, I don’t have any specifics beyond what you’ve shared.

We have #lounge:endeavour-pub already.
Perhaps time to create #lounge:endeavour-circus as well?

not a solution to you original issue but could you run windows in a Virtual Machine instead of a dual boot?

have you ever removed the drive? I ask do to @joekamprad post displaying what looks to be a drive issue.

is a program like testdisk able to access and display correct information about the device?

If this is true it will be almost impossible to do something aside from destroying the fake-raid and reinstall windows without the raid, to be able to add Linux after this.

Sounds somehow legit to me. There is a rescue Partition at the end of the drive too.
And the free space is size off the default windows partition .. could be the raid / backup implementation can not handle the change

so there is no other course of action apart from wiping my disk?
