Brother printer receiving data but not printing

I successfully installed a Brother MFC network printer

Brother MFC-L2710DW series

And it seems to be sending the print job to the printer but nothing is actually printed.

I went through the steps mentioned there (I saw it in the Arch wiki) regarding “nss-mdns” etc, and that’s how I got as far as I did.

But I still have the remaining post-installation issue, mentioned in the log I posted:

Brother mfc j430w wifi online not working

It could be related, as you can not reach the printserver into the printer and what rick links too is using socket://printer-ip:9100 instead of IPP/DNS protocol handler uri… (should not be needed with proper hostname resolution)

And i do not understand if you already enabled mdns hostname resolution ?

As i can only use the driverless mode fo my brother wifi printer after doing that here…

Yes, enabled.

I tried originally to install the printer with the socket method, but I couldn’t get it to work. Then I saw on the Arch wiki to use
ipp://printer IP/ipp/port1
and it installed.

using cups web interface or system-config-printer ?

If i have avahi running cups running and mdns host resolution running i do not need to set IP it detects printer automatic and it does not need to set anything like a driver only a network-name …

I removed the printer, and readded it like before, except that I chose the first of the two drivers offered, even though it did not say that it supports fax. Last time I took the second driver, because it looked more complete.
But the first one works!

@joekamprad now I saw your post, probably it would have been easier and better to do it by web interface, but in any case, it works now.
