Hi all, Having an odd issue with my new Brother MFC-J497DW printer. I’ve installed the aur print driver package and have tried adding the printer with various connection string recommended from the posts here as well as those mentioned in the arch wiki. The computer seems to see the printer, but when I try to send it a document the computer says it’s sent, but opening the print queue it reports that 0 pages were sent. This is both wireless and wired. I really need to get this working. on a side note I can print from my cellphone so I know the printer actually works.
Sounds familiar.
See my thread about Brother problems from a year ago:
Thanks but mine seems a little different. The printer seems to be located correctly, but when I try to print to it the print queue says 0 pages are sent to the printer
Go into the web interface for CUPS and check the detailed error logs.
I’m on localhost:631 and I can’t find where the error logs are?
Got it working! I needed to install the cups 32 bit components since the brother driver is 32bit!

this?
Yep that’s what I had to install, I’m going to email the AUR author and ask him to put that as a dependency
