AUR down or something on my end?

Newsspeak?

Newspeak as in Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four.

But we’re severely off-topic now

Two woman whispering and giggling to each other over the way.

The appropriate response: “Yep, they do that.”
The government response: “Wait, are they talking about me?!”

two women are sitting next to each other and smiling while eating ice cream .

Indeed. They should ask Gabe Newell to provide financial assets to achieve at least 99.999% service availability throughout the span of a year as a minimum.

So many steam decks that weren’t affected by these outages…. /s

We were looking for a solution for this, which effects the AUR.

Back on topic. The AUR is online for me

Darn, and I already did my updates! (Same here: online) Lemme get another machine and install EOS real quick…

Is it just me or something happened to the servers? I can’t reach https://archlinux.org/mirrors/status/ and reflector says: “error: failed to retrieve mirrorstatus data: URLError: <urlopen error [Errno 101] Network is unreachable>”

There seems to be a sustained ddos attack. Yesterday it affected the aur, today the website and other services.

Well, website was down a few minutes ago. Here is their status from “outside”:

Other than a few posts on the Arch subreddit (example here), I’ve seen no official news anywhere regarding the issues Arch is experiencing.

The silence from Arch devs and/or forum and AUR maintainers is odd.

They’re probably busy trying to fend it off. But yeah, you normally get something announced even if it’s just a basic post.

True. But the Arch dev/forum/AUR personnel is much larger than EndeavourOS and there were announcements for EOS when recent issues occurred. I’m quite sure there is someone available to keep concerned Arch users up-to-date.

Too bad Richard said somewhere we shouldn’t give them ideas… and I had such a nice conspiracy theory!

Let’s hope instead they get back to full (and safe) operation soon, without having to fight effing attacks.

Exactly

Yeah, I couldn’t find any update about what’s going on and what steps might be underway. Seems odd to me too.

@eleius Well thanks. That’s something.

Thanks. Keeping an eye on that. Better than nothing.

Yeah… Arch is a mess right now.

I have an alias that, in part, fetches the last news update if I’ve not seen it yet. So, that alias failed. Tried yay… and of course, AUR is down again…

Someone, or a group, must have really disliked being told to read the manual.

So far today and yesterday I have had zero errors or issues finding AUR packages when using yay but other than only updating on Saturdays I wouldn’t risk trying to update currently while things are intermittent.
