AUR down or something on my end?

Hee hee, I had to keep myself back, but secretly waited for someone to come up with octal:joy: There were times I could “read” the lights on a Data General Nova or POINT.4 without thinking… real bulbs at that time, LEDs hadn’t been invented yet. “Watchen astounished the blinkenlights!”

I also currently avoid using the AUR much. But well, if an update comes in, let’s see what happens. I can always revert to using pacman instead of yay

If someone could truly break the internet, the rest of us could finally take the day off.

I think it’s good again, our hosting provider has implemented a network-level block for the malicious packet streams.

Edit:

While the AUR is up again…

… the Arch Forum just went down…

It’s a time of turmoil, forums up and down, AUR up and down. lol

What if Debian and Arch decided to bury their hatchet and have a love child, i.e. a new distro. What would it even look like?

Maybe we can get a famed peacemaker involved in this? Like he who ends wars and does not start them.

PikaOS?

We’d get a lot more servers being down 4 times a day because they run Arch updates… Plus desktop users missing super cow powers on their yay ’cause they want to install the latest CachyOS kernel and can’t find the .deb:rofl:

use 3rd party mirrors and you will be good. I didn’t face downtime thanks to multiple mirrors.

Yup, keeping your mirror lists up-to-date is always a good thing.

Somehow this looks like an orchestrated system maintenance, update & bugfix pattern…

Yeah, let’s hope for the best.

Pity that mankind has to invest so much lifetime, resources, energy and money into fighting off spam, ads, and idiots trying to destroy everything others made.

But there is a solution to that. If everyone is forced to require an official government id to connect to the internet we wouldn’t have that problem anymore /sarcasm.

Forcing has never been helpful, encouraging to learn, help and work together always provides the much better results.

Wish the people who are supposed to represent us would learn that!

[Sarcasm noted but I thought it deserved an earnest answer.]

True, it would have been better to had just used “required” because that’s basically the polite way of forcing someone to do something.

polite → Newspeak

Don’t give them ideas. You know how dangerous a politician is with an idea :scream:
