Athentication prompt for ClamAV GUI script after startup

Hey there!

So I switched from Win11 to Linux a few months ago and after some hopping chose EOS to be my main driver. So sorry in advance for my lack of knowledge and thanks for you help, it’s much appreciated.

I installed clamav and the clamav-gui. It works just fine. However, what annoys me is the fact that imediately after logging in after system startup a authentication prompt is shown to run the script in /home/myusername/.clamav-gui/startclamd.sh. This happens even though I circumvent sudo passwords via the visudo file. How can I solve this issue?

Greetings,

The solution for this issue is to uninstall ClamAV, then read the thread below. Basically, you don’t need an antivirus on Linux, not even on Windows, actually.

The only people that get viruses nowadays are those that are constantly downloading untrusted files or those that get directly hacked, in which case an antivirus won’t save them.

^^ plus even the Dev of Clam just bailed on it (6 months ago or more?) so it’s uncertain there’s a maintainer at all.

I like Lynis but it’s not really an AV as it is a ‘opinion if all areas of your house in order’ is how I’d put it.
