Apparently, all Adobe apps have been re-written
- Native, open-source apps from the ArtCraft team, built in Rust and free to use.
vibe coded or not vibe coded.. in the end it is open source, anyone can fork it and make it to their liking.
a huge chunk of work has been done and it was long overdue..
(though you may argue, that the work could have also been directly put in existing projects.. on the other hand this being open source may also help the devs of existing projects…)
My thoughts, exactly.
Open Source trained on stolen source code. A human once wrote it, but the AI was used to vibe code it later, so it’s fine now. ![]()
I predict nothing except ai is gonna fork this stuff.
Because of reasons, or to be precise absence of them.
Now they even have WordCraft: https://github.com/storytold/wordcraft

Hmm..I am not sure how I feel about this.
Given that this is getting a lot of press, I am curious to see what Adobe and Microsoft do here. Especially the former.
I think the legal loophole here is that ArtCraft’s apps share zero code with Adobe. It’s all written in Rust which Adobe is not.
Probably true.
Sure, they probably aren’t stealing the code. But I am not sure that means they can clone the application itself.
For example video editing on this “suit”, there is this tiny problem with it all running on CPU rather than GPU.
As for it being “stolen”, IDGAF about megacorps like Adobe. Besides, they take every single thing created in adobe and train AI models, so fk them double.
I’m just sad AI projects like this gets so much attention when there are things that really need monetary support, like kdenlive (for video editing) that DO work with GPU integration.
its not just code its also design. If they look a lot a like then Adobe could sue.
yer while cool this is in a very grey area and could end up anywhere at this point, while i am not a fan of microsoft or adobe people need to ask what if someone did this to me
I agree here. Not sure where this will all go; courtroom, cease and desist, or just an annoyance. But I don’t think we’ve seen the last of these AI generated clone-apps.
