Arcolinux (arco linux)

Not able to run EndeavourOS on my hardware because of an issue with the powerdevil package above 6.1.5

Able to install and run Arcolinux. Arcolinux closed their forum and redirects to Discord.
Unable to locate the arcolinux forum on Discord.

Where do arcolinux users go to ask questions?

Why does arcolinux seem to install multiple kernels?

Is arcolinux intended for expert users that can closely study ALL the info pages available at
https://arcolinux.com/ ?

Find it strange decision to shutdown their forums, chat channels in Discord an’t the same as posting a topic on a forum.

Well, you asked…

It says Discord is the place.

Indeed, strange to shutdown their forums.

The maintainer of arcolinux is unique. I guess also tired of answering questions repeatedly

Also aware of. Search on Discord does not locate “arco”

I joined the Discord server just now, just post it under “Support” → general-support. It seems the most logical place to post a support question.

@garybean, There’s nothing to “search” for. Click the link I provided and join. I just did. It’s all right there.

Btw you could just install EndeavourOS and then use the “downgrade” command to install the version of powerdevil that works for you. As 6.1.5 is available in the Arch Linux archive, not sure how that would be any different on ArcoLinux?

@garybean
Not sure what your issue is with powerdevil but I’m sure it could be resolved. Have you posted a topic regarding the specifics? Maybe someone can help you resolve it?

Only a linux expert sitting at my computer, I imagine. Seems this specific hardware combination on this one computer has a problem with powerdevil packages above 6.1.5 in multiple arch-based distros Except for Arcolinux
My options seemed to be NOT use Plasma desktop or not use an arch-based distro
I did post the bug back in October '24 on the kde.org website.

If only this was the winning one-in-a-million lottery winner…

I also hit the jackpot on discord.com that sent me back to the captcha MANY times

Check what I wrote earlier?

That is several time-consuming steps just to reach the terminal to input the downgrade command which then requires a custom ignore package upgrade modification.

Arch-based distributions are still at core a DIY yourself distribution as for your comment about it not being a problem on ArcoLinux with powerdevil. I installed ArcoLinux in vm and it’s the same version there in the repos since it comes from the extra repo which is an Arch repo.

I am aware that powerdevil v 6.3.4 is NOT breaking my system in ArcoLinux.

I do not understand why – I just am running ArcoLinux successfully for the last month

DIY yourself distribution that basically sums up ALL operating systems

Then you have me confused because in your OP you said this, which gives the impression that you thought you will get a different powerdevil version on ArcoLinux?

---- above is true and ArcoLinux is operating. Sadly, my linux knowledge is not sufficient to understand the why.

Then it might be an ArocLinux specific configuration since the same package version is used. You could also try getting help with the issue here if you decided to use EndeavourOS?

Either way good luck!

Plus (I’m not part of the laptop crew), but aren’t there alternatives to powerdevil in any case?
