I have not yet come across documentation that mentions an alternative. It is a package installed when installing KDE Plasma. I have yet to see it listed as an optional install when installing a distro for the the first time.
Have been using EndeavourOS since it was first released. Have solved previous incompatibilities w EOS. Have asked about this issue before in the EOS forum.
I may be the one single individual on the planet with my specific hardware configuration having this one issue. I have spent many hours over many days attempting to remedy this bug.
At some point this “fun” crosses over into tedious and unproductive.

Did you have a restart loop with powerdevil or something else?
That was not a modification I made or a choice I was given during installation. I am not actually aware of how to implement or what a restart loop is.
I do have a preference to run an arch-based distro using KDE plasma.
I do have another standby computer with different hardware that operates normally with current versions of powerdevil.
basically @ricklinux is asking what is the issue your having with Powerdevil you keep saying there is an issue or a bug but you fail to tell us WHAT it is. What is the problem your having with Powerdevil.
Wrapping back to the original question. Arcolinux is not really a distro, it’s a teaching demonstration on how to build an Arch system for yourself. That somewhat explains why Erik has chosen to close down the forum, most probably.

I have posted the problem before in the forum. Basically, when powerdevil v 6.2 or higher is present, the Plasma desktop appears momentarily and the screen then goes black. I can access the terminal with CTL-ALT-F3.
Looks and operates like a distro. I have seen no recommendations to NOT use it as such.

There may already be an issue similar to yours. Otherwise, you would perhaps consider filing a report?
Why would Arcolinux shift to Discord or Telegram and not forums? IT is a pain in the ass in Discord/Telegram to post something and get a response. Also to trace out an issue is even more irksome.
Discord/Telegram/WhatsApp/Signal are good for chatting and not for discussing issues like those are done on Forums?

Arcolinux is DEAD. They will provide pkgs transition back to Archlinux.
Is this for real? The guy that runs it seems very passionate and there are 4000 some videos supporting it on YouTube. That seems like a lot of work to let die.

Wow, you’re right. Too bad, hate to lose a distro. Hopefully we pick up some transitioning Arco Linux users in EndeavourOS.
I am truly sad to hear this news. I’ve had and have great respect and admiration for Erik Dubois, for his generosity, dedication and work ethics. I wish him all the best in his chilling down, enjoying life and whatever he will be doing next.

Curses!!! The universe is against me. I am very concerned about my forward path using an arch-based Linus with KDE plasma. wow!
