Traveling on Linux is like an eternal journey to Tibet

This is life, buddy …
what do you want?

I thought distribution bashing was not allowed on this forum.

Saying a distribution is evil is not really something that is positive.

I’m not the only moderator here, but I think some of them are like me and will not appreciate this kind of content.

You dislike Manjaro, well, good for you. No need to say it this way.

Just my 2 cents here.

The days I was fixated on specific aims are gone. I just look where the tides carry me and enjoy the surprises life offers to me. I decided to just enjoy every day. That for sure doesn’t exclude that I express my opinion(s). The way is the aim. In that statement we totally agree.

Bauh seems like a viable pamac alternative:
• It has AUR, flatpak, and snap support
• It has tray and notifications
• The tray icon can be changed
• It works with pacman 6

Like Octopi, Bauh apparently uses Qt. It is just something to consider in addition to Octopi. Having choices is great :slightly_smiling_face:

Please back to keep it simply friendly here :man_health_worker:

Clearly, if this person can offend others with his comments, then this is good …

and if I told him in response, it’s bad …

clear and understandable … - I have nothing to do here

you have a good forum :v:

You were the one bashing tools and distributions.

You’re complaining because moderators do their jobs

Weird…

@joekamprad : I think this thread needs to bé closed. Off topic went too far.

he didn’t like the TC interface at first
then he did not like QT and he insults others by saying that he has known Arch since 2009 …

in fact, I gave advice for EVERYONE, not for him
I’m not interested in what he doesn’t like

Distro bashing definitely isn’t allowed here. It’s flagged and should be taken care of.

But I do understand:

You have made a number of pretty arrogant comments that come across offensive too. Congrats on using Arch for a long time.

You’re both looking pretty foolish at this point. No need to point fingers.

I have no opinion on who is right or wrong, from a moderation point of view it is gone off-topic and offending.

I do already warn here to keep it friendly.

So again: keep it friendly and take care to not brake the Forum Rules.

What also counts partly for @FredBezies

slow mode enabled …

I just put facts. I pointed some inappropriate sentences.

Freedom of speech is not freedom of bashing.

Last comment from me on this topic.

Wishing the best for everybody. See you in a few days.

What am I smashing?
I just said that Manjaro is not interested in your problems with Pamac and she is not interested in you … - since the developer does not listen to you and sent you far away …

Pamac is of little interest to anyone, if there is at least a pkgbrowser just to quickly and clearly see about the packages - it needs to be easier than to see it in the terminal …

Do not be offended - I just like you do not like Tk and QT …
I have everything in the GTK system

If you want to go forth with freedom of speech, then he absolutely can say that with identical argument. He can claim fact about what you call bashing.

Don’t be offended …
And freedom of speech - is always freedom of speech

the rest is demagoguery
(you are not my enemy so that I would argue with you because of the Pamaс)

I shake hands and do not be angry with me if I offended you with something :v:

…ANYWAY,
As someone else pointed out the fact that pacman 6.0 just kind of… appeared without any fanfare and without multiple downloads enabled is interesting and a little strange.

Also, again, manually installing a graphical package manager of choice is well within the “parameters” of this distro, and vanilla Arch too, for that matter. I do find the idea that “build your own environment with your choices, your way…” would exclude certain choices highly entertaining.
That’s all I have on that side of the argument,

As for the original post and my previous responses: I will patiently wait, after all I use it mainly as an update indicator and a package search engine.
