No, it didn’t work and yes I have grep installed…
Same here on my desktop.
If it doesn’t work, what is your filesystem?
ext4
I would guess that the word “Birth” needs to be changed to the language used on the installed system if you are not using English. (Or just use stat /)
Works here.

$ stat / | grep Birth

This is the date my laptop arrived
My experience is similar to yours. I have broken some things during this time while fiddling, and was about to reinstall just a few weeks ago, but then I decided to give the matter a bit more attention and I managed to fix the bugs that were gnawing at my patience lately. Upon fixing them I discovered the culprit to be some “tweaks” or failed fixes I did at some time or another .
Yep, dit werkt.
Does this help?
LANG=C stat / | grep Birth
$ LANG=C stat / | grep Birth

Evidently I never quite got around to that clean Endeavouros install I’d promised myself. Despite embiggening the disk in the last year.
My Franken AnterEndeavouros is running sweet though

A classical Arch installed using Anarchy Linux… 3 years and 2 months or 38 months… How times fly by…
[csteinforth@E14 ~]$ LANG=C stat / | grep Birth

Not that long but the longest time an install of a Linux distro survived.
I can confirm this for an E14. Maybe not the top notch, but a solid choice. The predecessor was an E530, which also worked very well.
