Computer is a Dell Inspiron 1545, have download the image several times and md5 and sig check out every time also tried different usb sticks. With previous versions i have had no problems booting.

The other day i tried https://github.com/endeavouros-team/ISO/releases/download/0-EndeavourOS-development-ISO-releases/endeavouros-devel-2020.04.09-x86_64_rc2.iso which booted without a problem.

Just wait a minute, eventually it will boot, I also had this on an older test machine.

Ok i will give it a try.

Yes it did boot after nearly 10 minutes

What has changed, when i install a new system will i have this delay every time i boot.

If i turn EDD off what effect will that have.

10 minutes is long, it took under 2 minutes on that older laptop (2008 model) over here, my newer machines don’t have that problem @joekamprad or @fernandomaroto?

Could you show the output of:

Just done a quick fresh install of the new release and it does not hang at boot (good news).

how do you “burn” iso ?

I use Gnome Disks to burn iso.

When i say i’ve done a fresh install i mean i booted new release, waited for it to boot, then installed i3 onto my hard drive. I then reboot into my new install on my hard drive without a delay when booting.

i was try asking how do you use the ISO file, like burning it to a DVD or copy it to usb-pendrive, with an app or command?

It’s interesting that you said had no delay with 2020.04.09-x86_64_rc2.iso and with 04.11 you face the issue.

As i see on archlinux site, the kernel was updated 2020-04-08 and systemd 2020-04-03, they were good candidates for guilty, but they were present on the iso that worked for you.

I have this on VM sometimes, when that happens i just porweroff and boot the VM again. Ok, VM is not real machine, but this behaviour seems random…

Ok, good that you checked different things already.
Very important to test different usb ports on your device, maybe one is malfunctioning.
Any chance for you to make the usb using dd command?

At least is working fine after install…

I can try different usb ports and also try dd command to burn iso.

If we just go back to the beginning for a moment, it hangs at

“probing EDD(edd=off to disable)…ok”

which means it has completed that task, right.

next i get a flashing cursor on the next line until the delay is finished, then the next line to appear is “running early hook for [udev]” maybe this is where the system is hanging.

Thank you for the report, we are looking into it now.

Burnt two sdcards using the dd command in the intergrated card reader and booted from same.

Burnt two usb sticks using the dd command in each usb port and booted from same, for a total of three ports.

On every boot it hangs after “probing EDD(edd=off to disable)…ok” then after long delay boot continues.

I just tested it on an old machine (2010) and it had also a long boot for the ISO, I did an install and when the system is installed, it boots with the regular speed.

I tried to boot the new version and I took about 4 minutes to boot on one of my testing laptops.
During that time the display showed after the message mentioned above (“probing EDD(edd=off to disable)…ok.”) following error:
ACPI Error: AE_NOT_FOUND, While resolving a named reference package element - LNKG (20200110/dspkginit-438)
