Good thinking, Joe, but KDE is huuuuuge to cover. I’ve been using it for so many years & still learning & discovering new things, I’d simply redirect to them by putting a link.

  • I’d say that the same goes for Gnome.

Yes idea is more about the fact that EndeavourOS is installing only a minimal set of apps and config so users often requesting about stuff that would be there in case you install all the apps for the Desktops.
So not adding every little option or tweak more the general things to add functionality.

Here are a few I have found through my travels ; feel free to tweak/edit to make them clearer if used.

  • If you’re missing the default language in KDE Plasma, install;
    hunspell-en_gb or your relevant language suffix.

  • To get Firefox to use KDE Windows decorations ; just change the Firefox settings:
    Right click on empty area next to address bar → Customize Toolbar → In bottom left corner find Checkbox “Titlebar” → enable it. Now your Firefox will use KWin window decorations.

  • If you’re missing task-switcher options/entries, install ; yay -S kdeplasma-addons

  • To make Thunderbird use the Plasma window decorations ;
    Config editor ; set mail.tabs.drawInTitlebar to False

Downloaded, added it on the screen. How to put it to work?

Enter Edit mode. Look for the widget.

Right-click your Desktop, Enter Edit Mode, Search for the Widget.

What configuration page? This explanation tells me nothing.
I can see the white button on my desktop, but it does nothing.
It makes my whole desktop transparent not panel.

Add the widget to the panel, right click on a empty space on the panel and click on configuration , next click on the widget.

There is nothing to configure in this widget, just hide it in non-edit mode and change opacity. For some reason it changes opacity of my desktop, not panel. It sits on panel.

Did you add it by right clicking on a empty space on the panel, next add widget , download widget ?

This widget can be download via Add widgets, download new widgets.
Let it live without me. Removed.

When applying themes reboot after to ensure changes take place
Make minimal changes at a time and as above try them after a reboot
Maybe add some of the default shortcuts (konsole, krunner etc)
How to access edit mode (for customising the desktop)

KDE

Cursors – for your chosen cursor theme to be used in SDDM and also the EOS apps under Wayland, you need to edit ~/.icons/default/index.theme - see here KDE Wayland issues with the EndeavourOS apps - #6 by joekamprad

KDE Connect is installed as part of KDE Plasma in EndeavourOS, together with the firewalld firewall. To allow KDE Connect to pair with your phone, see the information from the KDE UserBase Wiki here - https://userbase.kde.org/KDEConnect#firewalld
