Yeah it’s crazy what nature can do in very short time!

Probably many thousands of animals, wildlife lost.

The human number of deaths is currently at 10. But they say that will surely rise significantly.

Yeah that’s true then again animals are more smarter then people to flee fire!

I’m truly sad about the animals :sob: that did not survive.

It would be nice to not have people actively starting them… . .

We were home last night. The closest is fire is still going but winds died out a bit so it’s much more under control. We’re still packed to go though. Forecast still isn’t great, and not an ounce of rain projected anywhere and winds have now pushed thru the weekend:

Issued: 3:06 AM Jan. 11, 2025 – National Weather Service

...WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM THIS MORNING TO 2 PM
PST SUNDAY...

* WHAT...Northeast winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph
expected. Isolated gusts to 55 mph are possible in wind favored
locations.

* WHERE...Calabasas and Agoura Hills, Central Ventura County
Valleys, Eastern San Fernando Valley, Eastern Santa Monica
Mountains Recreational Area, Malibu Coast, Santa Clarita Valley,
Southeastern Ventura County Valleys, Southern Ventura County
Mountains, and Western San Fernando Valley.

* WHEN...From 9 AM this morning to 2 PM PST Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree
limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

Home (for now), heading to work in a few.

Thanks for the few that worried. Now that y’all know I’m still alive (sorry to some of you), I’ll slip back my mostly disappearing act around these forum parts. I gotta head back to my normal lilypad and circus show.

I think your mindset is a little strange here:
Regardless of some people dislike what you are doing in this forum (your words/opinion, not mine!) I bet no one would like you to stop participating here because you are dead / suffering from fire / whatever. Because this would mean that the person behind the account fbodymechanic would be hurt, not fbodymechanic. I find it strange to think so.

That being sad: I, for my part, would miss you* if you don’t participate here anymore as fbodymechanic, and regarding the person behind fbodymechanic: I am glad that you and your brethren are still well, and I sincerly hope that this stays the case - thoughts and prayers (to the old gods AND the new ones)!

*I may be not the benchmark here, I miss mr. frog and mr. clown and pebkak and all the others who have left us - I just LOVE diversity, and I love some conflict, so pls pls don’t leave us.

P.S.: I guess that you don’t take this TOO serious, but this posts from you have triggered something in me so I just HAD to post this.

I think you responded to the wrong user.

Yeah, I did, on my way to correct it, added the quote for more precision, was meant to answer fbodymechanic, not thefrog, sorry for the confusion!

Edit: Hum, I don’t know how to edit the person I have replied to…

No worries, you’ve cleared it up with your response.

Unreal. STILL going on…

I hope and pray it dies down soon and really feel for those that have lost pretty much everything.

Watching this live feed as well as CNN and BBC, they say it’s getting far worse in areas.

And now they say that new fires are breaking out.

FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) has stated that this may be the worst natural disaster in the history of America. Estimates as of January 12, 2025, more than 20,000 structures (homes, businesses, schools, hospitals…) completely destroyed. An unknown number of lives lost.

That’s not good, the number of places that have been destroyed by it is just insane, hopefully the death toll doesn’t rise by much more.

I have in-laws in the area. My ex-wife has yet to find out if her parents and sister are OK. Last she told me was her sister’s neighborhood is gone, nothing left but ash and debris.

Hopefully they are ok and have just left their phones behind or something like that. Hopefully the community there is supporting each other.
