AMD products in 2022

I did receive a response from AMD on pluton and they directed me to their blog site.

Edit: I haven’t had time to read through it yet but here it is.

Interestingly enough, nothing in the information I have seen yet suggests that the module does ANYTHING if not used in conjunction with Windows. If it needs matching software to function, it may not be a problem for those not running Windows - but I would love to know more about it first.

Security by obscurity has been proven to be inadequate, so perhaps there is hope we will learn more eventually! (he says, while whistling :notes: past the graveyard…)

Well, i bet it would be exactly the same thing as Intel ME, but inside CPU…running Minix or something similar, therefore it wouldn’t matter what you’re running on software level.

Pluton helps provide security to Windows PC systems by acting as an integrated hardware root of trust

Seriously? That is the strangest connection of words when they talk about windows pc.

Maybe it is a luck for me that our country is so behind the rest of the world. When first breach of this “trust” will leak I will have still plenty of CPU pre-pluton available to chose from.

I could imagine, that it is the same thing like with the TPM Chip we already have, and that this all/or at least the basics, get implemented in the UEFI from the Manufacturer.

So you could do nothing about that.

My understanding is that it’s an addon to TPM that works in conjunction with it to make it more secure so they claim.

Also, obscure the webcam when you’re not using it.

Another widespread use for Post-It notes…
