Air Cooled vs Water Cooled.

But doesn’t it eventually cause the same issue with constantly moving your thumb?

From what I read about it, the issue is more about the wrist moving a lot (different angles horizontally and vertically) and people holding their mouse too tightly (putting too much pressure on their hand). The arm and the hand are also in a more natural position with a trackball.

I’ve never heard of people having some kind of “thumb tendinitis” using a trackball.

Yes—my surgeon recommended using a Trackball…so I went there & have not used a regular mouse since…

It is my understanding that trackballs have been shown to not be great for your wrists. They can be a risk factor for developing de quervains syndrome. :person_shrugging:

still having my thumb do everything sounds tempting. Right now I feel I move the mouse acres a day.

Your elbow/forearm/wrist move much less than when using a mouse and you think the trackball is bad for the wrist ?

I don’t see the de quervains syndrome happening, because you don’t hold/grip the trackball, you just cover it with your hand and the effort from the thumb to move the ball is pretty light.

I’m just saying that i have read that this can and does happen. :person_shrugging:

Edit: This is getting off topic.

Off topic in off topic is on topic.

It’s my thread. It wouldn’t make sense not to derail it as normal. I’ve got two Logitech MX3s. They are fantastic.

I’ve got some free time this weekend. Looking like it’s time to swap to some air cooling and see the difference.

This is the Noctua cooler I used and it is quiet as a mouse. Maybe even an MX3. I also have two additional side case fans 140mm that are Noctua along with the front and rear case fans that came preinstalled. I think you’ll be pleased with your choice.

That’s a really big guy. I don’t know if that would even fit in my case.

I guess I’ll find out. I wish the accent pieces would get here but for now. My 360 is definitely not quiet under load

I am using the Noctua NH-U12S and it is great. Quiet. I am not a big water cooling guy, and even less so in the LCD department. Give me a black case I can shove in a corner and I am happy. From a cooling perspective I have had excellent results over the years with air cooling. I like the visually positive affirmation that it is working. If the fan fails, I am still getting passive cooling from the heat sink, and from the case fans pushing air through.

I think that white fan case will give it a very nice somewhat industrial dichromatic look. Excellent choice of football team by the way. Though its been painful the last ten or so years.

Yes it is a monster of a cooler. I was really surprised at how quiet it actually is. I made sure that the extra side case fans i bought that are Noctua are also low rpm because all these fans are very large at 140mm. The case i used is a Corsair air flow 5000D case. Fans don’t need to spin fast as it can draw air into the case without any restrictions.

Oh ya. Mediocrity is boring.

So after an hour straight of “ray tracing: low” on cyberpunk, tht hottest temp so far has been 75C with idle in upper 39s

Ridiculously quiet compared to AIO

We’ll see how it goes but if this is it, I’m happy.

Installed Noctua NH-U12A with their h2 paste. Removed Asus ROG strix LC2

Good choice on the cooler. I have that one about two and a half year and it is perfectly silent with AMD Ryzen 9 7900 (I reduced the fan speed in bios so it never goes above 60% and the temperature is about 75˚C at maximum).

And it fits nicely in a small case.

The water colling makes sense for me only in a condition when there is a huge radiator outside of the computer (even in a different room) to use a large area for the heat exchange and/or to have noisy fans away from the computer. In that case you would want to cool more than just the CPU. And if you calculate what price that would require then air cooling is a clear winner.

Nice one there, it is definitely quiet and one of the reasons I choose air cool and the older version of this cooler, the fans this cooler comes with are very good, albeit costly individually.

That is a lot of fans. Should be running cool!
I like the Noctua cooler. :+1:

Nice looking rig and I also approve of the Sapphire gpu!

The white accents are backordered, so it doesn’t just look like a big black blob in the middle.

I’ve always had a Sapphire. I just went from 6700xt>6950xt. It looks awesome, although I kind of want a smaller case. It’s justa bit too big.

It’s too many fans honestly. And I really don’t like the rgb, but everytime I tried to use openrgb, it does really awfulthings and it would literally never boot up again. I had to re-install every single time I tried it and I don’t understand it and hate it. Freaking Lian Li fans are so irritating. I just want it white.

Guessing no BIOS control for the rgb?
