Zoom not working or just me?

After the last update (6.7.2), when I try to annotate on a shared screen in Zoom, the shared screen goes black. It wasn’t like that before. Can someone confirm if that’s me?

I use Zoom from AUR, on i3wm.

I just installed and used Zoom yesterday on Plasma. Working without any issues.
I haven’t used the annotate feature though. Just a normal video call. Probably harder to test your issue because i have to annonate someoelse else’s screen.

I just thought I’d mention, if need be you can revert back to a browser based Zoom session. I can’t confirm if annotation on a shared screen is possible using that, as I know the browser version does have some limitations.

If you’re comfortable with its limitations, I’d actually argue that the browser version of Zoom is a safer way to use Zoom, as it exists within the browser sandbox (Zoom Security Bulletins).

Seconded.
And yes, screensharing is possible. I think annotation too, but maybe not on Wayland?

I’m surprised it ever worked at all. AUR and Flatpak zooms–neither have worked on Endeavour for me. I’m talking the standalone and browser for me.

Any/all zoom meetings I do on my backup distro.

I have never figured this out. I know it’s me not Endeavour. But as long as I have a backup distro I never felt compelled to dig too deep.

I’m on Hyprland/Wayland and used the Arch instructions for sharing. It works most of the time. Sometimes I have to kill the session after sharing because I cannot get out of sharing screen. It hasn’t done it lately so maybe they fixed it.

@BoredCat ,
As a newcomer to zoom tested the shared annotation from
I3wm with zoom 6.7.2-1 (AUR)
to
Garuda Plasma zoom (AUR)
and did not find any horror. (Black background does not mean that.)
I’m saying to myself annotation text can include pasted elements and they appear on
the target side(s) after pressing Stamp / Tick. IDK how it was in the previous versions.
NB.
