Zoom all of a sudden won't make a connection

I apologize for asking your help troubleshooting a flatpak. I would love to try the AUR version (didn’t go good last time) but want to exhaust this basically, first. As Endeavour is my DD, I had to boot into backup Solus twice in three days because Zoom won’t run, currently, on Endeavour.

no error
output offers no clues
Solus control case: same

when you launch the app the crash window (not shown in my lovely montage) appears (“send crash info to zoom?”), close out of this, then it just spins and spinds and spins.
Solus control case: same

when you right-click dock icon you get the choice to ‘join a meeting.’ Put in meeting number, then this ^^ eternal picture (complete non-connection).
Solus control case: ‘Join a meeting’ connects; lets you join a meeting.

Default firewalld configuration since first day of install.
Solus control case: I use ufw there, not firewalld.

Amateur sleuth conclusion: It’s a FirewallD problem (?).
All 2 cents appreciated, thank you

TLDR: Solus has the identical flatpak zoom package installed and imitates the new freaky zoom behaviour like it is in Endeavour, but solus will connect to a meeting. Endeavour stays in an eternal spin–and won’t connect- leading to me to believe it’s the firewall.

I have next to no experience with Flatpacks, so allow me to apologise up front, as I will not be able to help you with that specifically.

When a job has required it on a number of occasions, I have successfully used the AUR version.

I have also had success signing in via web browser and live streaming an event that way, so no dedicated application is required. The browser environment would also provide some protection to your system, over the AUR version. The browser version comes at the cost of having less features available though, such as HD video. Perhaps that doesn’t matter for you use though?

thanks for your reply. I can do with less features as long as I can record and share screen. If I can’t make a firwall diagnosis or get help with this, then I will rip the flatpak out and try the AUR. It’s peculiar behavior for a once-reliable app, but hard to find the time!
Thank you again.
