Do Google actually ban peoples accounts for using adblocker? That is the reason why I disabled the adblocker for YouTube and found other ways.
Don’t think that’s legal.
However, a question for you: Do you actually have a YT channel that you are trying to monetise?
If not, it doesn’t matter if your account gets banned, IMHO.
Why would it not be legal? YouTube can ban anyone for any reason they want. That’s not illegal. I am more worried about my email address, which is same Google account as the one I use on YouTube too.
When it comes to Google you should not think in terms of Legal but in terms of What they can get away with that we cant.
Not only will Google delete your Youtube account they will delete your entire Google account. You loose access to all the apps you bought and paid for as well as the DATA that they will keep, Doctor and then hand over to the authorities and for good measure they will have some idiot creator like sssniperwolf go outside your home and live stream it so psychopaths can find where you live and have themselves a night of Enjoyment.
Had this problem few weeks ago.
It’s not a big of a deal for PC but it’s kinda nuisance in Phones.
I paid for YT Premiums, problem solved.
for now
Once Google looses this battle. They will put ads into the Premiums.
We have cable TV to remind us of that.
You will never be free from Corporations harassing you constantly for your money
Just use google takeout to export your YouTube subscriptions. Then make a new Google account for YouTube only and import those subs back in. That way youll have peace of mind
If Google puts Ads on premiums then I simply stop paying. Problem solved. Not a big of a deal.
Haven’t you considered watching YT’s videos on an Invidious or a Piped instance in your browser?
Also, If you are on Android, there are Clipious (Invidious), Libretube (Piped), Newpipe and some more.
Not if but WHEN lol
If you think its worth supporting then its your money. Personally think it’s way over priced and with Google’s Politics and Practices it lessons my incentive to even want to support them.
When they start charging money for YouTube Premiums then I simply stop paying. Not a big deal.
It’s 10 usd/m for Family Plan where I live.
I’m not recommending it to you or anyone, just saying it’s a solution if you’re not too concerned/obsessed over security.
I am on iOS currently.
Then the apps mentioned are out of your reach.
Watching in the browser on one of the “platforms” mentioned could still be an option.
Also, is there Firefox for iOS? If there is, does it support addons? That could be also an option.
At any rate, if you are content with your solution, I won’t be the one trying to “impose” on you what I, myself, personally would opt for.
You can just connect to an eastern or south American country with your vpn provider and get Premium for dirt cheap, it’s what I did because I’m not willing to pay the full price just to have ads removed since I don’t use any of the other features of Premium. Premium Lite used to be half of what Premium is and doable but since Google decided to cancel that, they shot themselves in the foot since I would have stuck with that.
No problemo, totally understandable.
I aspire to be on Trisquel user-level of Free Software Zealotry. But damn, I just can’t part with YouTube and Steam lol.
Your missing the Point. I wont financially support Google just like I don’t financially support Disney. Their insistence upon shoving their Politics is enough for me to not waste one single penny on an Evil like that.
I currently care more for ease of use of Youtube without ads on my phone and my smart tv than I do about giving a few pennies to Google. Once they add ads to Premium, I won’t be using Youtube anymore. Also the reason why I run Jellyfin and Plex because of the ease of use compared having to figure out what runs where on the 100 different streaming services available and to have an insane number amount of subscriptions, for Youtube there really isn’t a good alternative.
I can currently get this free three different ways without changing anything
Brave + Ublock allows me to view Videos on Youtube without the notification issue (already using before anti-google)
Freetube - Set with anonymous account but my subscriptions
yt-dlp - download watch later
You can’t install such apps on an LG tv or any modern smarttv, I do have an Nvidia Shield but having to manually import/export my subscriptions is not really that user friendly and takes time if you have to do it more than once for example when you add new subscriptions.
I have 2 Gmail accounts. I had a YouTube account Banned several years ago. IT did not affect my Gmail, Maps, Drive, etc. Just YouTube. My second account is still complete.
I’ve mentioned it in another thread, but for iOS there is Orion which I believe supports add-ons.
