Your Favorite Torrent Client?

Probably a big part in it’s popularity, a good thing too

it was this way before it was popular, when i tried to use other torrent clients they tended to just be inexplicably slower or something along those lines, i forgot the exact details, qbittorrent was just 1:1 match to old bittorrent/µtorrent in how it behaved and worked well out of the box.

KTorrent for me on Plasma. Works very well, and with no dramas.

For those who use KTorrent. I installed it and downloaded an “ISO” yesterday. Before doing so, I had set it to only show certain columns because I don’t need some of the columns. Having opened it today, I noticed all the columns came back.

Is this normal? If so, is there a way to display only the columns I want even after closing and reopening the app?

If not, it’s getting uninstalled once this “ISO” reaches 1.10 ratio. It’s currently at 0.70.

PS: Gonna test out transmission since there is a Qt version.

No. I set my columns months ago. They are still as I set them. I have no idea why yours are re-setting.

Okay. Lemme dive deeper into the settings. Though I think I covered everything, but will take another look.

EDIT: Didn’t find anything that would affect it. Will see how it is after the share ratio gets to 1.10.

I remember why I switched from Transmission to Deluge and then eventually qBittorent now.

They do get the job done, though. And if I can figure out this KTorrent columns thing, then I may use it over qBittorent since it has all the same features I want and blends in with my system theme better.

Hehe, no shame in your game.

I’ve always used Transmission. The GTK version though. I always found the Qt version a bit dysfunctional for some reason I never bothered looking into. I just use the default settings, it works.

I was on Ubuntu Studio when I was testing this. Gave it a test on Arch, and no issues with remembering my layout/columns. Maybe a bug in the static version?

Anyway, it’s like qBittorrent, but better integrated theme-wise, so I’ll funnel all new torrents through it to see if it really does the job.

I’ve always used qBittorent, found it to be the most feature complete, but now that im on Xfce, I wanna try out transmission. Is it really effective in comparison or do people use it for Aesthetic purposes?

I’ve only tried qBittorrent so far, but it’s quite nice.

Transmission just gets the job done, IMHO. It has the features of qBittorrent and KTorrent, but they are hidden behind right-click menus, and there’s no real customisation of the UI.

But try it for yourself either way. You may be okay with the UX.

Does KTorrent have an overall stats feature like qBittorrent? The plugin doesn’t seem to add anything, or maybe I’m missing something.
