Im currently using Fedora but really want to try Endeavour, and the number one reason is this place. Just by reading a bit it was easy to realize that Endeavour has the most friendly and helpful community out there, thanks.
Welcome! FYI: you don’t have to be using EndeavourOS/Arch to be part of the EndeavourOS community. Plenty of people here that are running other distributions or multiple distributions. So in short if Fedora works for you, don’t feel you need to switch to EndeavourOS in order to be part of the community here. I am using Fedora Silverblue myself
Welcome aboard! This is the very first thing I noticed about the EndeavourOS community.
Welcome! Hope you enjoy the forums, though, I would say to use whatever you find most comfy. No need to switch to be part of this community.
As @winnyace and @Cphusion mentioned, it’s not necessary that you be an EndeavourOS user to part of this forum and community. There’s plenty of folks here that don’t use EOS/Arch. And there’s a lot of topics here to which you can contribute, both Linux related and not. The EndeavourOS Pub is super fun. And plenty of general Linux and desktop environment discussions all over. Stick around and have fun, contribute when you can.
Welcome @Al3ksandar9 to the wonderful world of EndeavourOS.
I will say it again, I have been on Linux since 2000, and been distro hopping like crazy since 2021, so I tried many distros and many forums.
This distro is absolutely the best out there, and above all the forum and community here is the best ever I came across since I ever started Linux in 2000.
I am sure you will enjoy and won’t regret it.
By the way, as a newcomer to EndeavourOs, don’t ever believe Arch based or rolling releases are not stable. I have been on EndeavourOS for about 3 years now with no issues. Let me put it this way, they say (just for example, just assumptions, just for the sake of the talk) Mercedes is best/most reliable car ever, that’s true, but this never ever means that Toyota is unreliable and will break often and has lots of issues. Got my point? On the contrary, maybe with Mercedes to do service you need to book (2 weeks later you get it), but with EndeavourOS (the Toyota), you call 24/7 and they come to your place and fix it or service it instantly. This is my 3 years experience with EndeavourOS after distro hoping those 3 years.
Welcome to the forum @Al3ksandar9
Welcome to the purple side @Al3ksandar9
Theres no way to get back now
@Al3ksandar9
Fedora is good but it doesn’t have the purple magic!
Hello and welcome @Al3ksandar9 to the forum.
Okay but that’s not the Purple Magic i was referring to. It’s the purple dimension in the endeavourOS universe. You can’t get there using Fedora!
Definitely, by far the best Linux distro forum I’ve tried. Welcome
So this is probably only going to make sense if you’re of a certain age, but the EOS community kind of has the feel of the old LUGs that you’d find and join in person, - just a generally chilled atmosphere with similar interests.
Sure you occasionally get someone who goes in guns blazing and doesn’t “get” why we’re here, but it’s very much a case of just chill, enjoy the journey, and help out where you can. May the wind be at your back!
