Yep, I started doing it when I discovered Catppuccin back in the day as your YAMIS icons look so good when they are colourised, especially with the Catppuccin palette. Nord palettes look pretty amazing too, so your Polar Gleam themes also lend themselves really well to the effect.
Actually I do have a question for you in your capacity as icon guru. I think I saw you mention about “tracing” images, I think you said it was done using Inkscape.
Basically I have an image which is a poor quality jpeg and I’d like to make it into a larger but monochrome svg in the style of your YAMIS icons. Is this a thing? Can it be done?

Yes, it is! Just know that the results will vary based on the source file, and it gets a bit harder when gradients or shadows are in the mix.

Hi all,
I’d love your input! As I convert duplicate mimetype SVGs into symlinks, should I use filled style or keep them as outline? I’ve set up a poll to collect your votes.

This change applies only to YAMIS; the Plasma iconset will stay as is.

  • mimetypes as outline icons
  • mimetypes as filled icons

That way they stand out a bit from the other icons.

It’s ok both ways, I slightly prefer the “outline version” because immediately I can spot the folders.
