If more people don’t trust Cargo, a new alternative of Cargo would most likely be created in the future. Both would be in competition. Rustler is an example…
I am not how that would help. The issue is inherent in this type of system.
Yes, that’s quite possible. It wouldn’t make a difference, though. Just like existence of yarn didn’t make a difference with npm.
I think @Zesko might be on to something in my case. My normal routine is install the OS, once on the desktop check for any updates, nvidia drivers if needed, add yay pikaur and pacseek, install my various apps via pacseek.
Okay, at least I’m not alone… ![]()
It is enabled by default in paru.
So, basically this whole discussion points to the fact that no system or method is perfect and the great thing about Linux (and more specifically EOS) is that we can each chose the method (and level of risk) that suits us each.
why not just use a package file after the initial install?
Just use to this. I’ve thought about just creating a file, but got use to this.
Arch It Your Way!
at least 99,999% of the ways will lead you to rome
Edit: This was meant as a joke, so don’t run this. First rule of running anything in the terminal, don’t run any command you find on the internet that you don’t understand.
The best method to clean up your system is #rm -rf /* ![]()
Well thats one way to test that btrfs backup ![]()
I know you meant this as a joke, but there are users new to linux who read that and may take it seriously, and they’ll kill their system. So newbies, be warned! ![]()
(Even though the command would not delete everything…
)
Edit after 14h: @Cphusion has confirmed below that the rm command above was meant as a joke.
I know and it was a joke. I have tried it in a vm and does enough damage to make my vm unbootable and all the important commands in /usr/bin and /usr/sbin get removed. I was never able to check if /proc and /run are left in tact because I wasn’t able to use any of the binary commands that were deleted ![]()
BTW, even if you run that without elevated privileges, it deletes files under the $HOME folder.
Well, mistakes happen. Yet another great reason to have good backups regularly. ![]()
In this case, I think it makes more sense to say that 99.999% of the ways originated from Rome, since all of these AUR helpers use pacman, makepkg, and the Arch Build System under the hood.
lol did a moderator edit that, I don’t remember putting the # sign there. ![]()
Better be careful there maintaining your system
![]()
legit!
i can confirm that indeed.
