Xbox Controller not recognized anymore

Hello,

I’m a bit puzzled with the most recent issue I’m running into.
Using Steam quite a lot for gaming, my controller, for some unknown reason stopped being recognized by games but still by Steam itself.

  • Testing through Steam => Settings => Controller => Test Device Input works :white_check_mark:
  • Using it with Steam Big Picture works :white_check_mark:
  • Tested in 3 games (so far) => no ingputs recognized :cross_mark_button:
  • Playing games on Heroic => works :white_check_mark:

Would someone here have an idea what’s going on and how to get it back to working?

Sorry, i have no idea but the same issue with a PS5 controller. In steam settings all works fine. But in Game (Dead by Daylight) only touch pad of the controller works :frowning:

I don’t know exactly when the problem started. May be a few days - a week.

What helped me, no idea why I didn’t do that earlier, was to reinstall Steam fully.
Now it works again properly (for now).
Maybe that will do the trick for you as well?

Ok, found an old Reddit post where someone mentioned to run sudo modprobe uinput
And that’s it. Controller works fine :slight_smile:

So that means that uinput wasn’t loaded automatically, right?
