Couldn’t sleep at 7 am and started looking at laptops, which got me thinking: What is the WORST laptop (specs wise) you’ve installed EndeavourOS on and have used it comfortably for daily tasks?

Notes
Opening docs with LibreOffice/OnlyOffice
No gaming, simulation, development or editing.
PLUS: Important if you use KDE as that is my DE of choice otherwise state which one you went with.
I wanted to ask here for fun and also to have an idea of how little I could spend and get away with and still have a responsive enough system XD
Please don’t start recommending laptops or “buying used”. I know PCs and specs, I can do the research and due to economic and country reasons probably 90% of suggestions are not going to be available or are going to be overpriced
Ran fine on a 13,3" Macbook Pro from late 2010 ( Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz, 8GB of RAM and a NVIDIA GeForce 320M). But in terms of the graphics, gpu hardware acceleration wasn’t working optimally and would have required some more tinkering to get the most out of it. Didn’t affected KDE Plasma to work, but video playback higher than 720p was rough. Which I would consider to be part of the “General browsing” requirement. As the device only has a 1280x800 display build in, that wasn’t a definite deal breaker.
Didn’t looked into other DE / WMs with that machine, used it primarily as a device for test driving and an initial installation before I made the switch on my main system.
A few years ago, I ran a test with a Coew2Duo system. In short: It worked better than I expected, and I used it for a long time under XFCE.

Although it isn’t EOS, it runs Manjaro Stable Xfce with no issues. Dell Studio 1535 notebook, Intel Duo Core, 4GB RAM, i915. It has been upgraded to a SSD. It is noticeably slow to my current, main rig. I use it for experimenting, as a spare and maybe for travel.
I used to own one of those gateway netbooks just to see if I could run linux on it comfortably.
Short answer: No
Long answer: kinda, but don’t rely on GUI applications.
It had a Intel Atom N450, 2GB DDR2, and I gave it a sata ssd for a fighting chance.
Endeavour was very hard to install, because of default DE being KDE. It did install but I ended up wiping it and installed debian unstable instead. I did install dwm, and used the ChaDWM rice with it and honestly it was really nice. I ended up giving it to a friend so I’m curious if it still got some use from him.
Fantastic response actually, as it has pretty much all the key points I was wondering about. And thinking most lappys have 1366x768, struggling over 720p while not ideal, not a deal breaker indeed.
This is great news, because a lot of the “cheap” new laptops around have that Celeron N4020 or some sort of “i3” that looks to be a unisoc or something.
I might try to stretch eventually to something just a tad better, especially maybe a 15.6’’ as those are the ones that start to have numeric keypad
But still good to know that for literally general daily light usage anything will do.
I installed endeavour os last year on a old acer notebook with 4gb of ram. The laptop runs great and i had zero slowdowns….unlike windows 11 which was very unstable on the same machine.
Plasma runs pretty good in 2GB RAM but you can’t do a lot with it. You can have a browser with a few tabs, an IDE or a word processor / spreadsheet, but only one at a time without a lot of swapping and therefore slow downs.
