This started some weeks ago, my wifi connection gets really slow and to solve it i need to turn it on and off in linux.
Speedtest-cli when restart the connection:
Download: 33.22 Mbit/s
Upload: 42.04 Mbit/s
Same test when i don’t restart the wifi after some time:
Download: 6.27 Mbit/s
Upload: 5.83 Mbit/s
Well i really don’t have anything more to say about the error, is just that, i have to keep turning my internet on and off or else it will run very slow.
Here some information about my machine that i got with the help of endeavour log tool:
The wifi only gets slow in this way on the desktop and to fix it i have to restart the wifi (i disconnect and connect again via the internet configuration menu on the OS). It is really simple to “fix” but it gets annoying real fast.
Possibly power savings kicking in. Have a read through https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Network_configuration/Wireless#Random_disconnections. Also note that the reported regulatory domain doesn’t match your flag, though that shouldn’t be an issue unless something else is using the same frequency (e.g. emergency services communications devices).
You have not uploaded the inxi output but lspci output twice.
I have no solution for you, but you seem to be using rtl8188ee and when I google this I find plenty of complaints about speed. And this is for various Linux distros incl. debian. Looks like a generic problem to me.
Are you using a dual band router with the same SSID for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz?? It is looking like your computer is switching to 2.4 GHz after some time. Can you verify this?
I use this wifi adaptor for a long time now and just recently got this problem, it was never a super fast connection but it was a good one, now it lags a lot some times. Maybe i should try getting a new one.
The problem was the drivers, they are really old so with the new updates they stopped working like they used to. I decided to just buy a internet cable, now everything works as it should.
