WIFI Driver not loading - Intel Wifi 6 AX200

Does this show anything?

modinfo iwlwifi

It shows a lot. One sec to get it into a pastebin…

Maybe go back to the file and only put this in.

/etc/modprobe.d/iwl.conf

options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1 swcrypto=1

Did you mean for swcrypto=1? It appears in your earlier message you set it =0?

Here is the output from modinfo iwlwifi. https://pastebin.com/FcRUEiXr

Just try it the way i have it as 1 is on i think and 0 is off?

Also are you dual booting with Windows? If so you need to turn off the fast start up feature in Windows Power Management.

I am not, this is a clean install of Endeavor OS

It looks like both ways for that setting in the file did not work. :frowning:

Okay I guess you’ll have to keep browsing for information on this problem and try other things. I don’t know what else to suggest other than if i knew which firmware it was trying to use i would probably downgrade to see if a lower version makes it work. :man_shrugging:

Edit: I know this info is based on Windows but maybe it might be helpful? Code 10

Edit2: The linux firmware it shows is probably way lower than the version it may be attempting to use. But I’m not even sure that it’s trying to load?

Ah, yeah that second link I had already put into my firmware folder before I started this thread. But it doesn’t even seem to pull the driver, as it just lists as N/A.

Is there a way to force it to use a driver?

Just with modprobe

sudo modprobe -r iwlwifi

sudo modprobe iwlwifi

Edit: Also

You can also try just removing it and then reboot.

sudo modprobe -r iwlwifi

I’m gonna try this, fingers crossed…

So fast boot is kept in the esxi partition right? I did the “erase entire drive” option at boot, but maybe it didn’t remove that partition of data?

I might try a disk wipe with DBAN and re-install and see where that gets me…

It’s possible… I don’t know? I just know Windows fast startup feature use hiber file and can stop wifi from working booting into linux.

It looks like the installer can’t even connect to the internet :frowning:

How did you install it initially?

Edit: If it’s xfce4 you could always do the offline install and then update it after if wifi works.

Initially I also used the offline XFCE installer (I was already planning xfce so no issues there).

So apparently, even after completing sudo modprobe iwlwifi, when I do lsmod | grep iwlwifi it still shows as not being used. Not sure if that’s useful or not…

How new is your machine?
If it is very new, then it might be possible that iwlwifi is not yet compatible?
Another thing: are you using the latest available motherboard firmware/BIOS (TLDR)?
inxi -Ma

The device is a diy PC that I built ~5 years ago. The motherboard that it’s using is the MSI X570 with wifi.

I believe it is up to date, but I will check later when I’m back by it.
