Why no anti virus on linux

while Linux has strong security measures, it’s not immune to threats. In specific environments, such as servers or where Linux systems interact with other platforms, antivirus tools might be used as an additional precaution. Some businesses and organizations use antivirus software on Linux systems to protect against cross-platform threats and ensure overall security.

Already regret, to dignify you post with an actual answer, but here you go.

That’s a lot of software for your concerns. If you want some talking points, here should be everything you need.

Genuinely, why are you so obsessed with what other people do or do not put on their computers?

If you think they’re all dummies then go ahead and run whatever software you personally feel is appropriate and enjoy the sense of security that gives you, but there’s nothing to be gained from these bizarre repeated attempts to convince everyone else there’s merit to the idea.

Why are you going on about this again? It seems you haven’t listened to any feedback you’ve been given about your posts and topics on the forum. :unamused:

You mean like CrowdStrike?

Install Clamtk. Update the virus files everyday. You’ll find out that it really doesn’t do anything for you. I’ve been using linux for over 20 years. I’ve got Clamtk on my computer. It has 27343 virus files as of today on it. I ran a scan a few months back. . . nothing . . .nada. . . no problems or issues with any viruses. If it make you feel secure install it and play around with it. Linux isn’t Windows and doesn’t need Norton Antivirus or any other virus program. These programs were written for people with insecurity issues using Windows. It’s a marriage made in heaven. . . .

Judging by his activities, specialy since yesterday evening, I would say spreading

around the forum and being

is what he is here for.

What’s more he is being rude towards other members and when called out he just dismiss it that it was only a funny joke.

He should go and thank whatever Gods or other entities he pray to that this forum has a very high level of (bullshit) tolerance.

I don’t know if he is here for trolling purposes. I think he is a kid that doesn’t really know how to articulate his points for something and when to stop pushing them. I remember that he admitted himself that he is 16 or something along those lines. It is only normal for someone that young to be similar to this, to be honest.

Can we stop feed the troll plz?

This topic by itself isn’t that outrageous. It just triggers a lot of people cuz we have seen his previous posts and especially his accusations form latest one. (which is hidden for that reason)

Now those reactions here seem out of place and make the respondent look worse than him.

Just let it be. If he keeps doing this stuff, just flag the posts and let the mods do their job.

Looks like you missed The Show last evening.

No problem, here is a resume for you:

I did. I saw that there was a hidden post from him, but I don’t know.

To add to that, because.

One of the biggest threats to today’s IT infrastructure is destructive ransomware attacks, where an attacker takes a company’s mission-critical systems out of action, and won’t restore them until a payment is made. That’s one of the main things CrowdStrike is intended to prevent. But because the software is given such powerful access to machines, then a flaw in the software has as much potential destructive power as the type of attacks it’s supposed to block.

So the same goes for any anti-virus software. If you run anti-virus software, the anti-virus vendor/company could push an update to your system that makes your system unusable/break.

Yesterday @anon62796363 was silenced for a couple weeks in response to some activity in another topic. As it sounds like others may have guessed, some of their posts have been consuming a disproportionate amount of staff time. Hopefully after taking a little break, they will be able to participate in the forum more thoughtfully moving forward.

If we assume the original question in this topic was intended to be taken seriously, then it was correctly answered in post #2 by @Ganimede. I will close the discussion here since the subsequent replies are drifting a bit off-topic and the OP is unable to directly respond at this time.
