A number of applications are using the Breeze cursors, instead of the system-wide cursors that I set in the preferences. Whenever I hoover between desktop and application, the cursor would change to Breeze, this includes (animated) activity cursors, resize etw., and when moving back to desktop, the cursors are as set in settings; I’m on XFCE 4.20 / X11. Thx.
are you using flatpak apps? if so that would be the culprit.
nope
Have you tried uninstalling the Breeze cursors, and which applications do this? Are they Qt apps?

It seems to be a problem with the Mac-Aqua cursors, rather than Qogir cursors. Whenever Mac-Aqua is set, the cursors tend to switch to the previously used (one-step before the current Mac-Aqua), say, elementary or Adwaita, if Qogir was deleted.
Nuissance, I’ll ignore that by using other cursors. Thx.
Still odd.
the question is with those apps that has bug what are their similarities? are they all GTK 3…
maybe try to create new user and then log on to it to test if it can replicated the bug there.
sometime if there is big update .config got messed up.
Fyi…
A system update never touches the .config. Or at least, it shouldn’t.
The user is responsible for the .config.
That sayd. Probably the fix is in the .config dir. (gtk3/gtk4/settings.ini)
yes it is but the changes in the system affects your configuration sometimes.. i remember when qt5 jump to qt6 font setting got messed up because there are old traces left behind in .config if he manage to locate all configuration related to cursor thats good for sure.
