White lines in new EOS KDE install

Hi,

So I have been using KDE since a week or so and I seem to have strange white lines quickly appearing and disappearing (horizontally). I did a full system upgrade. Note that I had the same problem in Pop OS KDE as well.

I first thought it was firefox, but then I switched to vivaldi and the issue remains. It is really strange. I have not tried to use gnome to see if the issue persists. Is there another solution?

a picture of what I mean (my AOE2 HD game crashed but I got to make a picture just before though).

Is this only with gaming or do you have it with streaming videos (Youtube, Netflix etc) as well?

also streaming, browsing, etc. Even now when watching an .mkv and having Firefox open. Don’t recall experiencing this in XCFE before.

Can you confirm it’s not the monitor?

yes. I changed the hdmi cable recently and have not seen this when I use it in combination with my work laptop running on windows either.

knocking some serious wood here but I think the issue is somehow solved using the advice from this thread [Solved] Strange graphic problem - #7 by ringo

sudo pacman -R linux linux-headers
grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg

Currently doing the same thing I did yesterday and no lines or distortions.

I see you aren’t using any kernel parameters in the default grub command line. I think with the 2400g you may need to experiment with some for this issue possibly.

Edit: maybe you get lucky with using just lts kernel?

thank you. The different opposed to my post of yesterday is that I seem to be using an updated kernel now, although lts:

$ uname -r
5.15.48-1-lts

Maybe that solved it. Anyways, very happy it is gone. Extremely satisfied with EOS and this forum!
