Hi,
Question for those who have thorough experience with yt-dl apps.
Which app has the best GUI and actually works with YouTube music?
Im assuming we mean yt-dlp
?
If so then these are the ones in the repos;
audiotube
clipgrab
persepolis
Do I have a suggestion? No, not really.
I’ve never really had a need to use it before, so I’m not experienced with.
A quick attempt at some online converters yields varying results, so I’m thinking perhaps software may be the same? I don’t know.
Just looking to save time in case someone has been down this path with YouTube Music.
technically no CLI apps have the ability to open a video and play it in the terminal.
but in these kind of “yt-xxx
” apps (including my own favorite ytfzf
) they will launch a desired track in mpv
mostly, in my experience.
The music UI can be changed/set in any app’s --help
output.
Some of the online services are OK .. a lot are junk/adware/etc.
Some (likely the OK ones) probably are using yt-dlp
on the backend.
You almost assuredly get better performance and control (and results?) by doing it with your own desktop software.
If I am not mistaken then OP is looking for a GUI frontend for yt-dlp that ‘works’ with Youtube Music. As its for yt-dlp I also take this to mean downloading rather than playing.
ok
Stay away from KDE Haruna. It has very limited support for buffering, screen resolution, etc.
